Description

Noir is a Safari extension that automatically adds a dark mode to every website you visit. It makes browsing the web at night so much better. With Noir, you won’t be blinded by bright websites ever again. And the results look great too. Noir generates a custom dark style for each website you visit, based on the colors that are used on a page. You won’t even notice this happening in the background – that’s how fast it is – but you’ll certainly appreciate the end result: a beautiful dark mode tailored for each website, where contrast is preserved and highlights still pop. And with over 20 built-in themes and the ability to create your own, you can customize the results exactly the way you want. Noir works with any website you visit in Safari, automatically. By default, Noir is linked to your device’s Dark Mode, so websites will only go dark when you want them to. But you can easily customize this to your liking, even per website. Only want to use Noir on just a few specific websites? Sure thing! Disable Noir on some websites? No problem! Built from the ground up for iOS and iPadOS, the app feels right at home on your device. It supports the brand new Safari web extension feature, which means there’s no need to manually activate it every time you load a new page. The app also tightly integrates with system features such as Shortcuts, Focus Filters, and Widgets to fully integrate Noir in all your workflows. And your settings are automatically synced to all your devices using iCloud. And just as importantly, Noir takes your privacy seriously: it doesn’t collect any of your browsing data. Period. Noir is made by an indie iOS developer. It does not include any subscriptions or ads. Buy Noir once, use it forever. Notes: • Found a website where Noir’s dark mode doesn’t look just right? Let me know by reporting it. The app will be frequently updated to address issues that are reported. Privacy Policy: • The Noir extension requires access to the websites you visit to analyze the existing style of the page and to override it with Noir's dark style. • Noir never collects your browsing data. The only data Noir ‘collects’ are your settings, and those will never leave your device or iCloud account. • You can read Noir’s full Privacy Policy at https://getnoir.app/privacypolicy

  • Great, Not Cross Platform

Noir is the best Safari dark mode app that I've tried (especially for that perfect black OLED look). I've tried Dark Reader, Hyperweb, Nitefall, and Darker - Dark Mode for Safari. My principal complaint is that Noir is not cross platform. You have to buy Noir for each Apple Vision Pro, Mac, iPhone/iPad making this one of the most expensive options out there.
  • Amazing app, absolutely worth the money.

Love this app so much. It’s a one time price, not a monthly fee. It’s smart enough to automatically work on sites that need it and it will ignore sites that already use other dark mode settings. You can configure the background color in settings as well and choose from different shades/colors. You can configure specific sites individually. Buying it on my iPad also allowed me to use it on my iPhone. This has made reading in bed at night so much better. Would recommend this app to anyone who wants to reduce eye strain and not risk their private data with a sketchy free app. Definitely worth the $3 I paid.

The dark mode and associated options are great and just work. Also, the support is great. After some months of use a few of my frequented websites stopped working with Noir, but I submitted a report through the super quick and simple link and it was addressed pretty quickly in an update to the app. Highly recommended for a more pleasant browsing experience!

I reported a few sites within the last couple days all seemingly using a new layout where noir wasn’t working and now just today there was an update and those sites now work. Very expedient and compassionate developer here. Thank you for such a stable and reliable app.
  • Should mention data exposure in description

I am a little irritated that it was not in BOLD print in the description that in order to use this app, you have to let it have access to all your passwords and potentially credit card numbers. If I had known that I would not have wasted my $2.99. The subtle acknowledgement you have to click on when your first turn it on should be a glaring warning to those that use this. If they are telling you they can see this info, now ask what they are doing with it?
  • Great extension

Works very well, and disabling "pre load top hit" works like a charm (thanks to previous dev response). The color is fantastic as well; it's not too dark like Safaris default reader mode, which my opinion is too high of contrast. This app makes reading long articles so much better on the eyes, not sure why this isn't the norm on websites by now.
  • Previewing pages no longer showing in dark mode

The app is excellent and really shines when you have an OLED display and use the “black” function instead of “dark”. However, I don’t know if it’s because of a recent update or not, but when you hold on a link to preview it, the previewed link isn’t automatically darkened/blackened as it used to be. Please fix this!
  • Still not working properly in iOS 17.4

17.4 is out of beta, still does not work properly for some sites Updates: The update fixed most of the problem. But the websites previously had problem still flashes a second or so of light mode before become dark mode.
