  • Great idea, terrible interface

I’ve been using Noom for a few weeks now and I can’t get over how terrible the interface is. The app itself is a good idea, tracking your calorie intake and weight progress is actually educational. I’m learning. About my bad eating habits, making improvements and actually losing weight. The interface however is a mess. There are five unimportant icons at the top, eleven items in the sidebar menu and a big black “success kit” button floating in the bottom right hand corner. NONE of these menus or buttons are useful to your daily use. In order to track your daily progress you have to scroll to the bottom of the page where the “track more progress” button is, and even that is obscured by the black “success kit” button. You would think tracking your progress would be one of the more important icons at the top. The other important button is “view analysis,” where you can review your calorie intake and make adjustments on your next meal. I can’t even explain how to find that button, cause it’s buried in a convoluted mess of this interface. You would thing that button included in the “my progress” section, but it’s not. So basically there are two buttons I need and use everyday and neither of those are in the main menu or sidebar menu. Don’t even get me started on the black button, that I never use, at the bottom of the page.
  • It Works!

I was a skeptic but two things have happened. First, it’s happening, the weight is dropping. I’m an over 50 female and weight loss seemed impossible. Even better than that I feel GREAT about myself. Mood swings are GONE and I wake up in the morning looking forward to jumping on the scale and going for my morning walk. I’m definitely a believer. It does work.
  • Useless if your health condition changes

There’s no way to change your personalized settings after you get the app set up. So if you are diagnosed with a new medical condition (eg high cholesterol) while using the app, you can’t change the personalization settings which renders it useless. Idiotic since their app can solve this problem they just don’t let you.
  • Voices have changed but not for the better

I love this app and part of why I loved it was the fun and sassy voices for the lessons. The new voices are edited weird, have a TON of mouth noise, a high noise floor, and some even sound like AI.
  • Could be great, but falls short

I had high hopes for this and initially it worked ok, but there are a couple major flaws, the first being that it doesn’t take mental disabilities into account like ADHD, our brains are wired differently so when the app tells me to just form new habits, it doesn’t work the same, but also it doesn’t take other things into consideration like when it suggests how to exercise, it never asks if you have any problems like chronic pain which prevent me from doing a lot of different things. So all of that in combination with the fact that I had a really great coach and without notice my coach was „moved to another department” and I got a new coach and then it happened again! So that’s why I’m not giving 5 stars, but also since i stopped lessons and have just been using the app to track, every time I log something it tries to get me to renew my subscription, let me tell you there is no better to to ensure I will not renew it than to annoy the heck out of me like that, so stop that!
  • Multiple Issues

    1. The feedback is super generic. It will tell you you’ve had a “strong week” after skipping use for four days. 2. The movement tracker is lack luster. There isn’t an option to not count steps, the options to track workouts are kind of awful. 3. It said my salted caramel icecream sundae was “green food”…definitely not. 😂 These were the reasons I decided 60 dollars a month was a no. They actually ended up canceling my membership. I wasn’t on the app to lose weight. I have really bad AD(H)D. When I am unmedicated I gain so much weight because I eat subconsciously, don’t notice I’m full until I’m sick, constantly think about food when I’m bored. I gained 80 lbs my first pregnancy. My doctor okayed be to track my calories and stay at a healthy range. I was using the app for this purpose because I planned on using it hardcore post pregnancy and wanted to do a lot of the courses ahead of time. I mentioned it in a comment to someone explaining my doctor was on board and monitoring and they immediately cut my subscription, I lost all of my data. This frustrated me because they preach working with your healthcare provider. I wasn’t in a deficit. I was doing nothing wrong at all. They sent me the explanation via a bot that I couldn’t discuss it with. I mean the app borderline sucked anyway. I just liked the idea of the circles and tracking.
  • Not cross device compatible & GF issues

For the price of Noom, this should be cross device compatible. Meaning I can go from an iPhone to an iPad to a computer and use the app. This is not a capability that Noom has and it’s very frustrating. Other weight loss apps can do this, so I’m not sure why Noom hasn’t figured this out yet for the cost of the app. Additionally if you have to be gluten free, the carb options for cereal or noodles are extraordinarily limited in the green category. Yet you can have wheat in many instances where there’s no gluten-free option in the same category. For the overall price of this if you have to be gluten-free or if you want cross compatibility, Noom is not the app to get.

Fantastic App, is not simply a weight loss program and teaches you lessons to implement in everyday life that help you live a healthier lifestyle. Also received chat support from Gabby, and the service was amazing!

This app works for a very specific type of person. Be sure to confirm that’s you before paying the high price they demand.
