  • IPad Pro Version - Charts and Pivot Tables???

    This is a super frustrating experience for ipad users. The biggest issue is that there’s no way to select or edit your data for charts — it kept picking a column at random and building a basic chart with ‘count’, with no way to select multiple axes, values (a lot of what you’d expect from a pivot table / chart tool). Even with the data highlighted, it kept generating a random chart that was useless and non-modifiable. It’s also an unintuitive UI compared to the browser version, and I often end up copying and pasting instead of auto-fill because it’s so janky on an iPad. It’s been unresponsive with my magic keyboard and trackpad often, not recognizing typing or clicks.

    I use the sheets app constantly especially when I’m away from my computer and in the last week it started crashing almost immediately after opening the app, and then it also bricks my ENTIRE phone with it so I have to wait like 5 minutes before my phone is functional again. I installed yesterday’s updates and they did nothing to fix the problem

  • Can’t edit drop down list !!??

    I have to open on a computer or use the web version to edit or create a drop down list in a cell. Why even have the app if you can’t use sheets how you could on the web. Terrible .. Hire new developers.

    I use these to track workouts in a simple format but why am I am now constantly having an issue where if I swap apps or lock my phone and go back to sheets the app freezes, hangs on a log in, and show me older versions of the sheet. I have to constantly close the app completely, sometimes once sometimes several times for it to log in correctly and show me my current version of the sheet.

    It was still a pretty good app since the I started using it. Then Google improved it and added new features over time. Since I use it to calculate so much data sometimes it takes a minute to load or sometimes it crashes. This is still an excellent app. I use it on my iphone and macbook pro.

    App script and extensions are missing entirely. Whole menus from the web app are missing. This app is basically just a coat of paint on a mechanism for viewing cells. Large swathes of functionality are completely ignored. This kind of lazy design is typical of companies trying to corral you into an app ecosystem without actually bothering to implement core functions. This app is garbage.

  • Won’t work on iPhone 15 pro max now

    This app will not open a link to a shared spreadsheet anymore. It says I have no internet connection. And yes I do have very good internet otherwise how would I be writing this review? The answers on Google help are not helpful at all. I’ve deleted the app and re-added it, turned off my wifi and used data, checked all the settings and still nothing. What the heck? Is it that hard for Google & Apple to get along? Please help me find a fix.

  • QR Links Stopped Working

    My work has made a few QR codes that link to their Google Sheets and suddenly those QR links won’t open the app for us when scanned with an iPhone/iPad. Other QR codes to websites are working so it’s just the app that’s having the issue.

    Sure you can edit/view an existing sheet but forget about creating a useful new sheet. No way to access extensions. Simply a half baked product.

    This is not an iPad app. Unfortunately, Google just packed the iPhone app to iPad and called it a day. The eagerness to preserve space to display the spreadsheet made it a good spreadsheet reader, but it’s nearly impossible to use this to create new spreadsheets. There are very few options available in the app, and the ones that exist are hidden so well that I spend most of the time on the app looking for obvious things instead of doing what I need to do :/ The interface is so jumpy… Anything I click provokes something somewhere in the screen to move, because everything is “context sensitive” so you get a few more inches of display instead of just a fixed toolbar with a decent formula editor. I understand this is supposed to run on all iPad sizes, but the experience for a user with a keyboard on an 11inch display like me is rather poor. I end up going to the browser and using the website.
