In the 28th century, Valerian (Dane DeHaan) and Laureline (Cara Delevingne) are a team of special operatives charged with maintaining order throughout the human territories. Under assignment from the Minister of Defense, the two embark on a mission to the astonishing city of Alpha—an ever-expanding metropolis where species from all over the universe have converged over centuries to share knowledge, intelligence and cultures with each other. There is a mystery at the center of Alpha, a dark force which threatens the peaceful existence of the City of a Thousand Planets, and Valerian and Laureline must race to identify the marauding menace and safeguard not just Alpha, but the future of the universe.

  • Far too much based upong far too little

Luke Besson's Fifth Element was cool, with a great story, great acting, and just the right amount of sci-fi bling, creatures, etc. In contrast, Valerian is terrible. The story is meh, the actors are completely talentless. Considering duos like Ford and Fisher at that age, these two don 't even qualify as lightweights. And everything else is nothing but a wanton glut and and essentially a waste of a good fifty million that could have been spared from an obscene budget that didnt even break even. If Besson had been limited to something like $80M instead of $200M and if he had cast actors that actually had talent, this could have been a great film.
  • This is a great one

Not sure why it did not do so well. This movie brings a completely unique story (based off the comics) in a visually jaw-dropping way. This is the epitome of a great sci-fi movie, from start to finish. Acting is descent, as well as the soundtrack.
  • Beautiful

Spectacular visuals, I wish they would go more in depth with it. The opening scene is my favorite by far. It reminds me a little of Besons other work like the fifth element. He makes fantastic worlds, however I wish there was a deeper plot. But I still recommend it to anyone
  • A rip off of blade runner wasted my money

Valerian has a thousand reasons this movie is bombing. I got bored out my mind, it didn't make any sense at all the characters arn't likable or intersting it's dumb.

I loved this movie because it introduced something new to watch and entertaining. The chemistry between the lead actors was awesome. My husband and I both loved the new and out of this world sci-fi pictures we got to see it was definitely mesmerizing.
