  • Great, but censored

    A great movie, easily one of the best from Disney. HOWEVER, this is NOT the original version. This is the censored version where they altered some of the lyrics because some snowflakes complained about it (they changed the lyrics from "Where they cut off your ear if they don't like your face" to "Where it's flat and immense and the heat is intense")

    I mean this is a good movie, but the over-sexualization of Jasmine and Arab women in general is just disgusting. Not to mention that the dress is historically inaccurate. Instead of trying to represent and respect the culture, they decided to dress her like a belly dancer. They tried to go the feminism route, but it just ended up with her being objectified. A nice comfort movie but with a few problems.

    Worst of all Disney princess movies, it’s more of a weird comedy movie with an unusual genie who can shape shift into zombies, a modern-like game show, and makes college degrees etc. it’s just ridiculous there needs to be more romance with Aladdin and Jasmine. Since I just got the movie for Christmas and watched it, I immediately regret it. Plus why doesn’t the government help the street rats? They just wanna capture people who don’t have homes, when they should just sell things that are free!???

    After reading the reviews. I realized I already bought this movie 4 years ago. I blame both Apple and Disney for selling the same movie with the same name. It's bad enough when I end up with a director cut or some other variation. This is worse because it's just the same name.

    Well apart from the marketing reviews I really enjoyed this movie. There’s magic, great story line and plot, characters are fun and engaging, and the music is not down played or over sung. The animation alone speaks for itself. Never thought I’d be entertained just by a monkey, parrot or a pantomime carpet. A Disney gem!
