Description

Know your worth. From acclaimed writer/director Miranda July comes a profoundly moving and wildly original comedy. Con-artists Theresa (Debra Winger) and Robert (Richard Jenkins) have spent 26 years training their only daughter, Old Dolio (Evan Rachel Wood), to swindle, scam, and steal at every opportunity. During a desperate, hastily conceived heist, they charm a stranger (Gina Rodriguez) into joining their family, only to have their entire world turned upside down.

This movie isn't "dry" it is bland and weak and strange, indudging in racial fetishes. We couldn't finish.

Why is it that those who don't have a clue or a very high IQ always wind up panning movies?!? This is a great comedy. There were scenes where I could not stop laughing. Perhaps because the humor is delivered VERY dryly and seriously that those who love car crashes, explosions, graphic violence and big breasted submissive women just don't get it... The story, the performances, the direction, all super. Rent or buy this wonderfully dark comedy and prepare to laugh until it hurts!

At first I thought this is the weirdest slow moving movie. Hang in there till the end. It all comes together for an incredibly heartbreaking movie about loss, love & acceptance.

They obviuosly tried to do something different and it was. wish i could get my money back for terrible movies. Slow. not funny. weird plot. yes give credit to actors for solid acting job but shoveling poop is still an awful job even for actors.

The director ruined the film by being way too self-indulgent, and the music is absolutely awful. The singing is misplaced and whiny, and the music just puts you on the edge of a coma. If you continue to watch the movie, you will fall over that edge.

Love Miranda July’s first film, “Me and You and Everyone We Know.” Her second film, “The Future,” a little less so, but it’s a movie that couldn’t have been made by anyone else. Now she gets to work with movie stars and a bigger budget. The deep division reflected in these reviews should be enough to let you know that she’s onto something - or on something.
