Description

Inspired by the incredible true story of the greatest security breach in U.S. intelligence history, Breach is a spellbinding thriller starring Academy Award® winner Chris Cooper, Ryan Phillippe, Academy Award® nominee Laura Linney and Dennis Haysbert. Eric O'Neill (Phillippe) is assigned to work with renowned operative Robert Hanssen (Cooper), the sole subject of a long-term, top-secret investigation. Determined to draw this suspected double-agent out of deep cover, O'Neill finds himself in a lethal game of spy vs. spy, where nothing is as it seems. Critics are hailing Breach as "electrifying" (Peter Travers, Rolling Stone) and "suspenseful" (Ty Burr, The Boston Globe).

This movie is unbelievable! A must see! How a double agent for the United States and also as a Russian spy sacrificed many of the US most classified secrets of the United States were told to the Russians.. Honestly this man should’ve gotten death! Not 23 years solitary confinement in a federal penitentiary for the damage he did to our country. He’ll most likely die in prison but when you commit treason on your own country 23 years solitary confinement isn’t good enough. Excellent movie!

Very much worth watching atleast once. Whenever a film like this is based on true events and people, it makes it that much better. This isn't a shoot 'em up bloodbath movie, but is a great movie that keeps your attention with actual substance.

  • Boring!

For me, the movie was very boring. After watching it for about 25+ minutes and forwarding through various scenes, I finally turned if off because I had lost interest. Depending upon your mood, the day, or tastes, the movie might be good drama entertainment. This movie seems to be an excellent example of "the hunter always gets caught by the game" and "quit while you're ahead."

My stomach is in knots because the actors do such a good job in this true story that it feels real. I have never been so drawn into a story from a movie. I could feel the pressure and the tension like I was involved. This is good movie making from screenplay, director, casting, and acting.

Unfortunately a very boring film with weak story line and bad play.

Chris Cooper is superbly creepy and this is a really chilling all-too-true story of a contemporary traitor. It shows the bureaucracy of the FBI and their excellence in spite of it. Big take-away features The Pilot pen "Dr. Grip" pen (and also mechanical pencil) which Hanssen popularized. They really are great pens/pencils and so is this film. Criticisms include a lack of depth and a too-dark cinematography. A little too one-noted in its color palette, like most of the supporting cast. Chris Cooper as the infamous Hanssen is worth the price of admission!

One reviewer says "edge of your seat thriller", another "complex... enveloping" NOT SO. Story line is slow, there is no excitement, no twists, no thrills. It is an interesting re-enactment of the FBI catching a spy, but it is slow, straightforward, and could have been done in 20 minutes. Very disappointing. Not worth the rental price. I had my finger on the fast forward button throughout the movie just to keep it moving along. This one is a sleeper.

A thriller how it should be. Amazing personalities play against each other. It is interesting how detailed the personality of Hanssen, the spy, is worked out.
