  • Nothing but ads to star

    Ads are ridiculous now. Extortion to subscribe to kami Cloud.. Used to be great with minimal nags.. Already stopped buying YI and went with others... 2-3 videos plus mandatory ap store opening due to a fake x and pop up ads with sound in the surveillance video is unacceptable. Dev response will likely be that I can subscribe to kami... Extortion.. You lost me as a customer.. And now, on app opening, one of the ads or cookies yi runs is immediately blocked by AT&T Active Armor... Malware... Thanks YI for making a good product bad.     I’ve been using Yi cameras for over 10 years and it used to be great. Over time it got more and more obnoxious using the app. At first it was the occasional pop up asking if I want to upgrade to cloud. Then it was every time. Then it was trying to sell other things too. The latest irritant is the moment you open the app, there’s LOUD ads that won’t let you close out until you wait awhile. I need to check on my cameras when I’m at work and am always mortified when loud music or sounds are blaring from the ad. They should at least default the sound to be mute. And then when you click on a camera view, there’s another freaking popup trying to sell AI services. I’m actively looking for new camera system now. I have to replace all 6 of my Yi cameras, the app is unbearable!

  • Too many ads interfere with viewing

    I purchased five of these cameras and have SD memory cards for local storage on all five. The service worked great for a while, but now it takes a long while to get access to my camera views due to annoying ads. You have to wait for an ad to completely play before seeing your camera view. This is super ridiculous. I am looking for other local storage camera options now.

    If you like to watch ads instead of your cameras, get this. Receive a notification of motion on a camera, after a bunch of ADS, you can finally see what’s up.

  • To many of ads, even after subscription

    UPD: developers replied even without reading the title of comment. They propose discount for subscriptions, but the main disappointment that I already paid for it and I’m getting daily ads with active subscription. I do not recommend buying the camera, installing the app, or paying for the subscription. I used to like this app and the cameras for years, but definitely not anymore. Two main reasons: 1. Advertising — The app constantly spams with advertising notifications, even after I paid for a subscription. And you cannot disable notification, as you want to receive notification with alerts. 2. Alerts — Motion alerts are triggered by the smallest movements. A blink, a shadow, or even dust will set off a recording and a notification, even on the lowest sensitivity setting. After paying for a subscription, I expected the “smart AI detection” to fix this issue, but no luck — honestly, it got even worse. “Person detection” triggers even more often than regular motion detection, even when there are no people or visible movement on the video.

    The ads are horrible. Will be looking for different cameras. Have started getting notifications for movement when I login and force’s to watch an ad just to see it’s an old camera recording. I mean days old.

    I paid for a product that promised a good user experience, and now they start spamming it with ads. Not even occasional non-intrusive ones, but ones that are annoying to dismiss and pop up every single time. Absolute rubbish. This is a security app, not a freemium game. And I see they have the gall to respond to another reviewer offering them a discount for no ads.

    Do you want to navigate through a maze if mandatory pop ups and advertisements for useless subscription services to navigate to your camera feed? Well I hope so, because the AI+, Cloud services, and whatever holiday is near are obnoxiously stuffed down your throat as you try to navigate to the live camera feed.     Disgusting and offensive advertisements popping up every single time I use the app for services I ALREADY PAID FOR. How dare you? I have a yearly subscription that I will absolutely not be buying again because this app is predatory and complete trash when so many ads keep showing up. It’s not just interrupting the user experience, it’s obnoxious.
