I have owned the moto II unit for a few months now and here are my initial thoughts after spending some time with it on my motorcycle: Pros: - Quality hardware and design: I like how the screen is visible in all types of light and angles, appreciate the minimalist approach, and I don’t worry about breaking the device if it were to drop. - good concept: the idea of minimizing the distractions of a phone screen while on a motorcycle is nice. - response/well designed app: the app is easy to use, easy to save locations and routes, and generate random routes based on a radius around your current location or to a specific destination. Cons: -expensive: the device itself is fairly rugged, built well, and just generally feels like a quality piece of tech from a hardware standpoint. But I still struggle to see why this device costs what it does on top of needing to pay a subscription once we buy the costly device… - moto II device still requires a persistent connection to the app to work: I understand this likely stems from the size of the unit, but what exactly is the point of buying an expensive device to show you directions when Google maps or any other routing app can do the same thing for free or cheaper right from my phone I need to have on me anyway? - timing of notifications when driving is VERY slow. More times than not, the “ding” sound indicator does not even notify me until I am right on top of the turn I need to be making, or - in numerous cases - after I have already passed the exit/turn. My experiences lead me to believe that the logic of the turn notifications is set to notify you based on the location of the turn itself, and takes no consideration of the exit ramp leading up to the turn (when talking about freeways/highways). For regular city turns where there may not be an exit, the timing is still off. It notifies much too late. I typically get notified with what feels like only a few hundred feet of space between the time of notification and the actual turn I need to make. This does not give me confidence that I will be notified with enough time to account for lane changes or traffic around me. - re-routing logic is not very smart when it comes to using the automatically generated routes. If you miss a turn on the route, it will perpetually circle you back to that specific location that you missed the turn, instead of just trying to relocate you back onto the same original path and pick it up from there. Pretty annoying in my experience. Overall thoughts: Questionable pricing aside, and as much as I like the idea of the device itself, it is admittedly a bit difficult to justify getting into this ecosystem when much the same thing can be accomplished with just the phone you already have, a quality phone mount like quad lock, and a subscription to something like the CaliMoto app if you want something that can generate a random “fun” route. There is potential: the company seems responsive and engaged with the community it’s trying to build around this application, but the package feels a bit lackluster right now. I’m not entirely convinced that in its current form that this ecosystem (expensive companion hardware, $50 annual subscription for premium features like auto route generation) is worth the price of admission for what it offers and how it currently performs. An Immediate win with a basic software update can be to fix the very short timing of turn notifications.
  • Minor bug for beeline

Been using Velo2 for about two years, my only issue is it uploads total time to strava as moving time and my average speed number is significantly lower. Otherwise it’s a nice product!

I’ve had this app, paired with the beeline moto unit, for about two years. I find it easy to plan routes and enjoy the fairly seamless pairing between app and handlebar mounted unit. I do wish it would update a little more quickly when a turn is missed though. Sometimes a missed turn will take up to a minute or two to reroute, at which time you might find yourself very much out of your way. Overall though, I like the app! I like the ability to record your rides and to save rides (planned or recorded) without having to pay for the premium package. I have never lost gps navigation with the app, even in the woods and mountains of the northeast US, and use it frequently while exploring on motorcycles.

I like the device for motorcycle. App is only good for basic a to b stuff. Good that you can import gpx so i plan routes on google and then usethis to navigate the route on my motorcycle.
  • It’s not bad

The app is not bad but I wish there was a step by step preview of every turn or exit so I can memorize it since the turn by turn direction don’t tell you street or exit names. I like that it’s simple but it’s a tad too simple.

Simple and turn to turn directions for bikes. Options for fast, average and quiet rides.

Leaving this review because there is no way to contact support or provide feedback. I have been using this app in the Philippines for the last few years and it is been mostly great until a recent update. Now when I search for destinations it returns results from the other side of the planet. The search use to work exactly like Google maps, but now it’s broken and unusable for me. I hope you can fix this.
  • Keeps taking me the least efficient way

Ive been playing with this for a few days to take me to locations I already know how to get to. Each location it always takes me what is consider the long way to places. Taking me directly thru congested towns instead of the highway that is much faster. I’ve double checked that avoid highways is off and motorcycle is chosen with fastest route. Both Apple Maps and google maps take me the correct path on the highway but this app and device just forces me to have to put in multiple stops just to go the proper way to locations. As of now I don’t feel I can recommend this to other riders because of everything stated above. Regretting my purchase but currently is best thing to not have phone on handle bars.

In theory the beeline is a great thing, simplify the navigation process. Application brings a bit of frustration as navigation mistakes are easy to make without actually having the complete route on the phone in front of you. I found myself off route and had to refer to the map to regain my heading. Perhaps with more use I’d learn to be more proficient with it but at this point it more of a cool gadget than it is helpful.
