pixelmator vs photoshop vs indesign.

I have used both, and I prefer pixelmator. As time goes by photoshop has more and more advanced features and the learning curve for doing even simple thigns can be daunting. Same goes for indesign. If you want something intuitive and easy to use, and you don't have anything too high level to create, pixelmator is the definitely the way to go.
Advanced Features - No Subscriptions

I come from GIMP and INKSCAPE. This app feels really really special compared to those guys lol. I was looking for a non-subscription, offline app with some balanced ai capabilities and intuitive layout - this went beyond my expectations.
Oh and they have really fantastic templates for brand imaging, mockups, and social media posting which I will definitely be using.
Cherry on top is that they offer huge integrations with AppleShortcuts which I use for everything.
Just a polished app all around - well worth the investment.

If you Google how to do something in Pixelmator, you get results - BUT if you click the link thinking you might find out the answer, they have taken down all of the indexed URL's to the tutorials. These were links to the Forum where users were helping users figure this out.
I don't think the tutorials would have changed, but if they did, then the team at Pixelmator could have made new videos, or linked to the place where the answer is.
So Googling for the answer doesn't help. If you email support it takes 2 weeks to get a response.
The help files are so-so, but some people prefer videos.
Feels Like Pages on Steroids…

I didn’t get to preview Pixelmator prior to purchase so I didn’t know what to expect. I watched a bunch of reviews and hoped it would be some kind of all in one app that engulfed Photoshop, Illustrator, and Indesign somehow. It feels more like Pages with a bunch of added features. It does try to accomplish a lot of what the Adobe suite apps do. It does a decent job at most tasks. I am still learning how to use it to do more of the things I used to with the Adobe Suite. I am hoping it will continue to make strides to be a great all in one app that rivals Adobe’s suite. Hopefully I can update my review in the future as I discover more.
Seriously went downhill after Apple bought them out

No support. No community. Yet another great product ruined by a giant corporation.
App is good… need more release notes

App is amazing! Release notes though are much less detailed in recent updates, and it is hard to know what is changed. Why not describe it?
Basic, poor image editor

I’ve tried removing the backgrounds of 10 photos and it’s done a terrible job on all 10. On one photo it actually removed the nose in the center of the face as well as the background. The removal is destructive, so you can’t make adjustments to it. The healing brush is also laughably bad. I tried to remove a birthmark on the face and it duplicated her eye, lol. I’ve heard so many LIES about this being a photoshop replacement - it just isn’t. As a new MacBook user I’ve come to resent the cult-like Apple community over hyping every mediocre thing.
Excellent App!

Fantastic app that gets even better the more you treat it like its own thing instead than trying to use it exactly like Photoshop. The selection and masking tools are class-leading and the performance is very smooth.
Very good

Perfect allrounder

Pixelmator Pro is a perfect allrounder. It is very close behind Photoshop (for example removing backgrounds Adobe is better) but the speed of use in PP and UI design is fast and elegant.
