  • Way Overpriced and Scummy Marketing

Sorry this is a long review, but potential new users, skip this review at your own risk. I almost never write reviews, but this needed to be said. First of all, when you first open the app, you get a series of splash screens, ending with a subscription page attempting to charge you $10 per week if you want full access to all of the features, coloring pictures, and no ads. Not per month, $10 per WEEK. This makes it one of the most expensive apps I have ever seen. And it’s a COLORING BOOK! Alternatively, you can pay $100 per year, but that is still very pricey for any app, let alone a coloring book. I’d rather pay the ONE TIME $13 fee for Procreate, then go and download free images on google to color in - and get one of the best art apps on the App Store in the process, which can be used for so, so much more than coloring in pre-set images. Then they pull a series of scummy marketing tactics, which ultimately drove me to write this review. First, the payment page is written and laid out so that at first glance, it appears that you HAVE to pay, when, in fact, there is a limited free version (read the fine print in the app), and there is no obvious way NOT to pay. On this splash page there are two noticeable buttons: “Continue”, and “Pay Annually: $100 per year.” Pressing “Pay Annually” does the obvious, but “Continue” takes you to the pay weekly page, where they also sneak in giving you a 3-day trial. (Note the “Pay Annually” page DOES NOT offer a free trial. As far as I can tell, there is no mention of this free trial ANYWHERE ELSE.) The only way to avoid paying is by pressing the “X” on the top left corner of the page… and immediately after, it takes you to a “Limited Time Offer!” page (which isn’t really limited time offer, it’s just exploiting good ol’ FOMO) where they offer you 50% off of the annual pricing. Seriously, that is some exploitive nonsense. While I’m sure it’ll have zero effect on their bottom line, I’m never buying a product from this company purely on principle. How many people are getting conned out of $50/year because they decided to pay annually right away, and never saw the discount page?

I usually don't write reviews but this deserves one. Want a relaxing digital coloring book? Don't get this one. It glitched and kept erasing almost everything and was sooooo frustrating. My advice: don't get it. Up to you though.

When I got this app it was all free pages. Now it only gives you 2 free pages of each category. So I can’t finish some of the pages I’ve started. I don’t color often but I use to enjoy this app when I had the free time. Not anymore, don’t get this app it’s pretty much pay for access anymore.

Ok, first of all this is a really cute game, but there are not a lot of pictures to choose from, unless you buy the premium pack. And also there are ads. Well, just at the bottom, but still. Also there are SO MANY COLOR CHOICES AND SO MANY SMALL SPACES. There are so many colors to choose from and so many small spaces😵‍💫 One more thing. I recommend getting the app, but these are the thing that will happen if you get it: 1. Not a lot of pics to choose from 2. Ads at the bottom 3. So many color choices and small spaces 4. Try and have a good time with the game THANK YOU FOR READING THIS🤗❤️❤️❤️
  • Excellent in its simplicity.

The app is simple. The colors are pre defined and unchangeable, but it’s a great pallet, with good tone matching. I love it’s presentation as well, with one caveat: there’s no list of colors used. You have to remember which pallet you were using. It gets confusing quick. I understand why they can’t do a dropper style tool, but a list where you can see the last 10? 15? choices selected would be great. There are three tools: fill, draw, and highlight. I thought this would be really limiting at first, but in a way it makes it a creative coloring experience. But it’s simple if you want it to be. And there’s something I have really come to appreciate about the limited tools. I make a lot of decisions and focus a great deal during the day. This is actually relaxing in part because there are no decisions other than what color do you want? But the tools can inspire more creative use if you want to do blending or shading. I enjoy this app. If you’re looking for a simple, calming coloring app, this one is great. And they have a nice combination of simple and complex pictures. I’m a convert. 5 out of 5.
