You can apply Grammarly’s suggestion with a single click or expand the suggestion to learn more about it. ► Go beyond grammar Grammarly’s advanced spelling checker and grammar checker go far beyond the built-in tools of word processors. Grammarly detects misspellings and commonly confused words used in the wrong context, like “affect” and “effect.” In addition, it can flag and fix complex grammar and punctuation issues like sentence fragments, comma splices, and subject-verb disagreement. But great writing is about much more than just grammar and spelling. That’s why Grammarly also helps you streamline wordy phrases and rewrite sentences that are likely to confuse readers. It also suggests word choice improvements to help keep readers engaged, and helps you adjust your tone to ensure you come across the way you intend. It’s in the title. There is no setting to disable this awful popup. Fix this ASAP if you want users to keep your app.

As much as I like Grammarly for Word, it is terrible in Safari. It gets in the way. It signs itself out. The worst thing is does is erase text you have written when it corrects something else. This happens repeatedly on X and Facebook, rendering the app hostile. Grammarly has had time to fix it, but it has not.

When Apple started to introduce AI for writing help, and upon using all the AI tools out there.. I let go of my subscription Well, I took advantage of the 50% off to just try it again. WOAH!! It’s been VERY nicely updated, and so much better and easier to use than going back and forth with other tools Grammarly is fantastic and well worth it, as odd as that may seem.. it has a good edge and it seems like they intend on keeping that up! Yes, even with all the AI tools out there and the half-lame Apple AI effort - this one shines out nicely. I do heartily recommend it ESPECIALLY for Mac users
  • Initially was a great writing tool but now it causes my Mac to crash

Grammarly was an amazing tool to correct punctuation and sentence structure while I was writing a research paper for school. I even paid for the yearly sub. After recently updating to the newest Mac Sequoia software Grammarly causes my Mac to crash while on Safari. Its literally unusable. The minute I “quit” Grammarly my Mac goes back to normal. A quick Reddit search reveals that this is rather common and has been ongoing for many years. Needless to say, I canceled Grammarly and don’t use it anymore due to this. Thankfully, school is nearly over which means I won’t need Grammarly but I will need my computer to work which means I won’t be sub-ing again.

I used to like Grammarly, and had used their free version. my little sibling, without realizing on what they were doing, started the free trial of the premium version.I didn’t realize this until it was to late. The trial ended with me getting charged a 144 dollars for a yearly subscription. I tried to reach out to Grammarly to try and resolve this situation and get refunded. Turns out they don’t have a real customer support. Now I am out 140 bucks with a membership I don’t want. What gives Grammarly!!!!!
  • Beware of security concerns

I used to recommend Grammerly to everyone in my workplace, but I can’t anymore. Besides the missed spelling errors and grifting for their premium service, it’s banned by a bunch of companies and schools for security reasons. Even Microsoft banned it!

Super buggy. Made my activity monitor say that safari was using 60GB of RAM. Uninstalled and my computer is 1000x faster.
  • Was great, until it wasn’t

I have used the Grammerly app and desktop version for almost a year, until recently it was amazing. Since updating my Mac OS to the Sequoia 15.3 my whole laptop started acting funny. Not opening up links, instead downloading them, not allowing multiple windows, there was a slew of issues that had been happening. I contacted apple support, after an hour of trying to figure out the issue, our last resort was to remove the only extension that was installed. And once grammerly was removed, everything started working fine. Please update and feel free to reply, I would love to help you narrow down the issues to help fix them so I can have this back on my computer. It was so helpful for me.
  • An Overpriced, Rigid, and Time-Wasting Letdown

I used to use Grammarly, but over time, it became more of a frustration than a helpful tool. They focused too much on enforcing active voice, often at the expense of natural writing, and their suggestions felt rigid rather than intelligent. On top of that, they significantly raised their prices without delivering meaningful innovation. The tool frequently misinterpreted context, flagged correct grammar as errors, and made suggestions that sometimes worsened clarity rather than improving it. Instead of saving time, we found ourselves spending more effort fixing unnecessary changes—defeating the entire purpose of using a writing assistant in the first place.

This is without a doubt the worst piece of software I’ve ever used. Many of the grammar recommendations are just wrong. The UI, such as it is, is wretched. It’s difficult to follow where the app is in one’s document. It’s absolutely insane that these people would charge for this junk. Stay away from this.
