  • No refunds …cannot cancel

So I signed up with the supposed ability to cancel before you have to pay in 7 days. I tried it and by day 3 I wanted to cancel. The button to cancel was disabled. I sent 3 messages within the app requesting to cancel. No response. Today I was chaged $79. Now I was of course able to cancel. I did…well no refunds for me of course I have a year paid for something I dont want.
  • Waste of time

The articles are a pointless waste of time. But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. 2 Timothy 2:15
  • Irrelevant Matter

I indicated what I prefer to read, but none of the choices they gave me were anything close to what I had indicated. It’s as if they’re telling me, “we don’t like your choices. Read these instead.” Two stars is a stretch. I appear to have wasted $1.99 for a one month trial.
  • By far the best RSS reading app

It’s so easy to mindlessly scroll through the internet. Read something wonderful instead.

Excellent app! Best reader ever created. I sincerely hope they consider merging with Artifact News. It be a great way to preserve the best of Artifact in a growing platform like Matter.
  • Simply put, it makes reading fun

The work I do combines interests across my personal and professional life. The struggle I had was amalgamating all of my disparate news sources from across the web. I recognize other apps do this, but I was sold when I tested the podcast transcription feature, this combined with tags and their announcement of adding additional discovery features in 2024 has me excited to continue using Matter. It’s the app I never knew I needed and has focused my reading which has also made it more enjoyable.

Not often that you come across an app or an idea that just works - and does so effortlessly. This app is an essential way to personally archive and manage the web. Highly recommend for all those that read online.
  • Worth it!!

I absolutely love Matter for its Text-to-Speach capabilities. I put the voices on shuffle while commuting and it is like having a well narrated audio book. I used to use Instapaper. Then I moved to Pocket which fell apart last spring when they “upgraded” and lost a bunch of functionality. I’m glad I kept looking as Matter is FAR better. Usually I’m loath to subscribe to ANYTHING. I’m cheap and perfectly happy with the free version of many apps. But for me and the things I want Matter to do, it is well worth it!

i’ve been using Matter since it was in beta, having come across it by happenstance. this is my most used app. it sits next to imessage and phone on my home screen. the joy of taking badly formatted or archived articles and importing them into matter is immeasurable. the beauty of listening to a favorite piece with — yes, the most human-like text to speech i’ve encountered — is sublime. the ability to highlight, make notes, share excerpts is delightful. what is really remarkable about Matter, though, is the fundamental ethos of how it exists. everything about the design of the app is meant to emphasize — not Matter, but what you opened it for — the text. every feature, every feed, every tool — it does not leave a distinctive watermark all over it. it instead says: here — this is what you wanted to read. here is what matters.
