With CarPlay support, OnX has been deleted! This is the one go to app for off-roading. Most trails, best context, best trail ratings, etc. It really is complete now!

This app is primarily for west off road maps. There are a few trails east but absolutely zero trails listed in Kentucky near Red River Gorge. There are many open national forest trails in Kentucky and this app has none of them. Other than that, it’s informative and good for planning trips.

If you’re as fickle as I am about maps and up-to-date route information, then you cannot go wrong with this app. TrailsOffroad is to the 4x4 community as TrailForks is to the mountain biking/hiking community. LOVE the integration with Gaia GPS and I USE BOTH when on the trail. More than happy to subscribe to this app! Can’t wait to see how they continue to improve it! Also a big shout-out to those on the trail mapping team for continually updating and adding trails. You are appreciated!

The thing that sets trails off-road from the competition is the extreme detail of each mapped trail. I have both Gaia and OnX but I tend to use trails off-road as my main because it prepares me better than any other. You have detailed routes and an accurate rating system that shows a trails obstacles, points of interest, available camping spots, and various attributes. I know exactly what to expect on a trail and anything I need to be prepared. All in all a must have for anyone trying to explore more trails.

The best source of the latest conditions for many trails in CO in my experience. The connection with Gaia is great to reference personal waypoints with current trail details. Developers are very responsive and fast to fix things. One thing I wish is that previously selected offline data automatically redownloaded or there was a notification to prompt downloading after clearing app data or reinstalling.
  • Don’t bother

Has virtually no trails east of Colorado. No KAT, no GA traverse, etc. Seems like a solid app but useless without trails…
  • Good App that could be great…

I use this primarily for my dual sport and occasionally for my truck. The two features I would really like are GPX export in app and Elevation map. The GPX export, in app, allows much easier ability to transfer routes to watches and stand alone GPS units in low service areas. Most of us don’t rely on our phone. The Elevation Map (similar to AllTrails) would be amazing helpful on the dual sport since the main issue with dual sport riding is inclines.
  • So good

This app seems to have the best list of off road trails for jeeping in an easy to use format that I’ve found so far. And downloading them for offline use is easy, too. I’ve found trails we didn’t know were out there with this app. I don’t like to have to fiddle with searching and a lot of clicks when you have an impatient husband and not much cell phone signal when you didn’t plan ahead. This app doesn’t take a lot of time to find a trail, download it and get ready to roll!
