Great fountain, terrible networking components

By AdamStrickland
The fountain works as described; super quiet, my cat loves it, easy to clean. For that, this product would be five stars.
But the app and wireless components are so terrible that I recommend people away from this fountain. I have a dedicated 2.4G network at my home for my automation equipment with the lowest possible security settings so that apps don’t fail to connect to various things (vacuum, leak sensors, etc) and the Petlibro is the worst device I’ve ever had on my network. It connects for setup maybe 50% of the time but it spends more time “offline” than online. I’m on vacation now and the app has come online 3 times in the last 5 days. I can hop on and see what’s going on with my Roomba, my water heater, my outdoor Christmas lights, but my cat’s water level? Thank God I have a friend that stops by to check in daily.
If you want just a fountain, it’s good. If you want any of the extras that make this a “premium” fountain; save your money and buy something else.
Easier to bathe my cat than stay on WiFi

All these products are like a full time job to keep connected to WiFi. Daily issues.
Product is great but the app is full of annoying ads

I love everything about these cat feeders I got from Petlibro except for the fact that the app will not. stop. shoving. product adds in my face. I just want to be able to use the app for what it says it can do: feeding my cats without having to go to the actual bowls, knowing when their food is low, and tracking their eating schedule. I’m begging whoever runs this to stop having annoying pop-ups (which show up in the app even if you have notifications off) about advertisements for the product.
It feels so cheap and ridiculous that I already got the products I wanted (the cat bowls) and now to use them the way I need, I have to get blasted with in-app ads for products I am never going to use. It should be an option to see the ads, one that we can TURN OFF if we know we’ll never be buying additional products.

I have to disable all notifications because there is no way to disable junk promo notifications trying to get me to sign up for your subscription service despite already subscribing…

App is buggy af—I cannot toggle on one of the daily feedings and I cannot feed my cats. So stupid

Buggy.
Phone audio is DISABLED while the app is open, for some reason. There is no audio played in the app, but it still disables your phone’s audio. Not the end of the world, but when I’m listening to a podcast or hosting a party I want to be able to check on my pet’s water/food.
The app itself is slow. Certain menu items and functions bring the app to a standstill while it tries to figure out what to do.
I’ve only used the app for 5 minutes and am already frustrated, why did I pay an extra 30$ for phone connectivity if it’s going to be more inconvenient than the non-digital alternative?
Unavoidable ads

This app displays an ad every time I open it. I think this is absolutely ridiculous, I already paid for the product, I shouldn't be fed ads for it.
UX not good

It works well if you’re home or gone for half a day, but I wouldn’t trust it for longer. Also too complicated to teach a sitter to use, which is frustrating. I love that it keeps the food fresh, and if the app was better it would make a huge difference, but there are so many things that hold it back.
You can’t add a new meal schedule unless a meal isn’t currently in progress. When editing a schedule or starting a schedule late, nothing adjusts for you based on time, so you’re constantly running in conflicts like “this time passed already” or “this conflicts with another schedule.” I often have to save and exit twice before I can alter a single schedule.
The feed now is nice but would be also be great is a feed now option where you could set the amount of time in between bowl rotations; like feed now, keep open for 4 hours, then start next bowl
In one hour, keep open for 4 hours, etc; no exact time stamps needed.
It’s just much more complicated than it needs to be.
