Love it Ladies and gentlemen, brothers and sisters in Christ, today I want to reflect upon the remarkable ministry of Jesus Christ with His disciples. The relationship between Jesus and His disciples was not merely that of a teacher and students, but it was a profound bond of love, guidance, and transformation. It was through this ministry that Jesus not only impacted the lives of His followers but also laid the foundation for the growth and spread of His kingdom. Jesus chose twelve ordinary men to be His disciples, individuals from various backgrounds and walks of life. They were fishermen, tax collectors, and ordinary individuals who, by society's standards, were not considered the most learned or influential. However, Jesus saw the potential in them. He saw beyond their limitations and recognized their willingness to follow Him wholeheartedly. Throughout His ministry, Jesus invested time, effort, and love into the lives of His disciples. He taught them, challenged them, and provided them with practical examples of what it means to live a life of faith and obedience. In their presence, Jesus performed miraculous signs, demonstrating His power over nature, sickness, and even death. He empowered His disciples to do the same, allowing them to witness the transforming power of God working through them. But Jesus' ministry with His disciples went beyond miracles and teachings. He also modeled servanthood, humility, and selflessness. On the night before His crucifixion, Jesus washed the feet of His disciples, an act typically performed by servants. He showed them that true leadership is not about power and authority but about serving others with love and humility. Jesus' ministry with His disciples was a living example of His words, "Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant" (Matthew 20:26). Moreover, Jesus invested in their spiritual growth and understanding. He explained the mysteries of the kingdom, using parables to illustrate profound truths. He taught them about the importance of prayer, faith, forgiveness, and loving one another. He equipped them to continue His work even after His departure. Jesus knew that His time on earth was limited, but He prepared His disciples to carry on His mission. After His resurrection, Jesus appeared to His disciples, assuring them of His victory over sin and death. He commissioned them to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing and teaching in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19-20). The disciples received the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, and they were transformed from fearful and uncertain individuals into bold and courageous ambassadors of Christ. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, they proclaimed the good news of salvation, performed miracles, and established the early church. Their lives were forever changed through their encounters with Jesus, and they, in turn, changed the world. Today, we are the beneficiaries of Jesus' ministry with His disciples. The Gospel has reached us through the faithful proclamation and testimony of those early disciples. We are called to continue the work they started, to be followers of Jesus and to make disciples of all nations. Just as Jesus invested in the lives of His disciples, He calls us to invest in the lives of others, to share the good news of salvation, and to demonstrate the love of Christ through our actions. Let us remember that Jesus' ministry with His disciples was not just a historical event but a living example of how God transforms ordinary people into extraordinary instruments for His kingdom.
