Ancestry continues to grant me copius information on my ancestors. More than a few famous ancestors have been discovered and added to my trees. The biggest surprise was through the DNA testing I had performed which revealed my birth Father of which my twin Sister and I had never been told. My twin died before this revelation came out. My Mother never confided in us but was always concerned as to why I wanted to know about my ancestors. She always said they were dead and would never help us. Wished she was still living so I could let her know she was related to several US Presidents from George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, Andrew Jackson and more plus General R E Lee, General Thomas Stonewall Jackson, Daniel Boone and General George C Scott. Would have loved to hear what she thought then. Thank you Ancestry for all you have provided to people like me that yearn for this information. It is who we are and what we’re made of.
  • WAY TOO EXPENSIVE!!!!!

I’m not paying for information that we should be able to access for free. It’s kind of ridiculous that they continue to take information away little by little to try to force you to spend money for information about our own family information. Not to mention the fact that they block documents that you have saved as well so you are also unable to see them. Why can’t I see things that I have saved unless I go broke lining their pockets for information that SHOULD BE FREE?!?! They claim that there is free information that you can access, but that is NOT TRUE. Nothing is free on here. I am going to have to take everything I have worked so hard on and move it to a different site that actually offers FREE information about my own family. It’s so frustrating. As for the DNA, 23andme may have their issues, but they have done a far better job. I have even been willing to pay $70 for a year with them for the extra info BECAUSE IT’S WORTH IT! The $40 plus whatever a month Ancestry wants, is not worth it. NOT EVEN CLOSE.

The price of the subscription just to see a breakdown or look up anything is absurd. Literally these days if you’re not rich we out here scraping and this is just nuts to me

2025: ISSUES WITH ANCESTRY.COM 1. Frequently, when adding photos, the profile pic changes. 2. More difficult and time consuming-more steps to do most tasks. 3. Have to click on “ignore” several times before the hint gets deleted. 4. The new version of hints and search are frustrating, especially the pop-up notifications. The previous version should be reinstated. 5. Unable to add photos to more than 4 persons at a time. 6. I have to maintain the older version of Ancestry, and be in the same tree as the new version in order to add photos. 7. In order to change trees in my old version, I have to delete the app, then reinstall it. 8. The “save for later” feature in hints is useless.
  • Greedy company

Years ago I was a paying customer and remember paying hundreds of dollars at once one time when we got our tax refund. I believe that happened twice at least. I saved info and I contributed a LOT of stuff. Now I am older and having health issues and don’t have $$ and I can’t even view what I saved and paid for and what REALLY gets me is that photos that I have lost but saved on Ancestry, you won’t even let me see without paying to see my OWN photo. You try to tell me it’s your photo. NO, it is NOT. IT IS MY PHOTO. That is very greedy, Ancestry. Because of this I have stopped uploading any photos. I haven’t uploaded any for a long time. Your site could be great again. Could be.

Always trying to sell something. Instead of just giving us public info which is free they always want to charge us.
  • AI

I don’t find your AI app very user-friendly. And I don’t appreciate my information being distributed by AI. I’ve had Ancestry for a long time and I think your price is way out of order. I am thinking about doing away with it.
