  • Too expensive

At first information was available to everyone. Now they charge for anything. And way too much!
  • Unable to easily look at member individual’s info

One of the latest updates, made it so when you tap on an individual, in the tree, it pulls up a window for “Add Basic information” and to “Search Records about him” or “Add his immediate family members”. But there is not easy way to just tap on the person to navigate to someone they are connected to. It is very cumbersome, and unusable currently.

It’s awful frustrating to pay to use your site and have a message come up saying yall are having problems, while trying to save an entry. It’s also frustrating that I have to save entries, the same entries over and over again. Once an entry is put into the tree, we should not have to re enter it again. Also I really enjoy the famous ancestor part, but it would be nice to have it placed on our tree, instead of just seeing how we’re related. One other thing is that yall know that we have these people related to us, before we even have it on our tree, most all of my famous ancestors are 1/2 cousins, so that is what I mean by not being on our tree, when it’s mainly parents and their parents and so on. It would be much better if yall would offer us common folks our whole family tree at once, instead of milking us for it. Give us the option to purchase it outright and make it affordable. After all yall give it to the famous people on Finding your Roots!!!!!! Also when entering an ancestor it goes back to the main body of the tree, then we have to hunt the spot where we were, we should be able to stay in the same area, until finished, this is really frustrating having to find the spot where we were!!! Your bugs are not fixed!!!

I used to love my Ancestry subscription. Whenever I had time, I could go back to my account and do a little bit of research and get caught up with everything new. But lately they have gotten very unscrupulous with their billing policies.. It’s impossible to cancel. I’ve been getting charged for three months while I’m trying and a refund so sad.

The cost for this has become astronomical. I do really enjoy it because I am so deeply involved in genealogy but I will probably have to give this up due to the cost
  • Charged Repeatedly After Cancellation — Still Not Resolved

Extremely disappointing experience with Ancestry. We cancelled our membership on March 25, 2026, yet Ancestry continued charging our credit card afterward. We were charged $149 on March 30, $39.99 on April 1, $39.99 on May 1, and another $149 on June 30 — $377.98 in total after cancellation. We contacted customer service after noticing the charges and have followed up multiple times over several months, but the issue has still not been resolved and the money has not been refunded. What is even more frustrating is that I just received another email saying that the supposedly cancelled membership is scheduled to renew again on September 29 for another $149. I genuinely don't understand how a membership can be cancelled, reported to customer service multiple times, and still continue generating charges months later. At this point, this has gone far beyond a simple billing mistake. I would strongly recommend that anyone using Ancestry carefully monitor their credit card statements after cancelling and keep documentation of their cancellation. I will update this review if Ancestry finally stops the subscription and refunds the charges made after our cancellation.
