I’ve used this app several times but never again! I left an honest review of my most recent booking about hiding fees post booking. Also the owner had a no refund policy. I didn’t speak negatively about the house nor the owner but airbnb decided to remove my review. I spoke highly of the owner and the house unbelievable.

Pretty awful experiences the past couple times I have used airbnb for a trip. One such time where a host cancelled two days before our event, and airbnb gave us credit to travel for a whole two weeks after. Perhaps if they could ask my boss for some quick PTO that would’ve been a reasonable response. Another time we were charged $70 for two brand new towels (a brand of quality much higher than what we were given at the apartment) after our “superhost” found very small stains on one towel. No one in our group could remember using such a towel, and after rejecting this request, airbnb sided with their host with no real explanation besides “its our policy”. With very poor support and the immense rise in cleaning fees, I really see no reason to not stay in a hotel. I would probably prefer camping outside seeing as a sidewalk can’t charge me for damage I didn’t cause. Sad to see what used to be a good experience go downhill so quickly.
  • Huge fees - zero service

For the astronomical fees they charge you don’t get any service if you actually have a problem with your rental. Calls go to some cheap sweat shop outsourcer. Oh, and don’t forget to take out your own trash after you pay the $300 cleaning fee.

Airbnb does not offer customer service or resolution for things that any reasonable and professional hotel would. Our room had broken blinds, dozens of ants, and the fuse box couldn’t handle our electricity use. Airbnb refused to address any of these issues while the owner wanted to come spray ant spray while me and my children are staying there and argued with me about the power actually going out saying this has never happened with any other customers. Excuses and the blame game. The worst part was the complete lack of professionalism on the part of Airbnb. They allow the owner to determine any resolution which means they are just a middle man taking both parties’ money. I wouldn’t trust them to protect you or your family from any owner or situation that you couldn’t handle on your own. Bye Airbnb. Into the trash pile of deleted apps and companies you go.
  • AirBnB is a horrible travel company

I have used many travel companies and all good reviews as a guest. 1st time with AirBnB was a complete nightmare. Less than 18 hours host try to charge for more guests than what I had wanting more money and I refused to pay for more guest than what I had. AirBnB canceled my reservation, lock my account so I could not respond back to AirBNB and did not give a full refund as discussed on the phone with them. Charged me for more than the one night I stayed. AirBnB helped this host extort me of money. I was forced to drive home more than 5 hours away because had no additional funds for other lodging to finish our vacation. Vacation ruined, my husband, kids and I devastated. Will never refer AirBnB to anyone. The communication between host, guest and AirBnB was horrible.
  • Way too many test listings

There’s been a major surge of test listings bulking up the search space, congesting the list with repetitive and often joke-implied fake listings for “testing purposes” — Why does one host need multiple test listings of very similar unit tests? (some hosts doing this will just straight up add “funny” pictures of drawings and immature headlines for the listings. It’s obvious they’re not using this feature to practice advertising and even more obvious that Airbnb is not vetting these listings at all. It takes up a lot of the featured showings and makes the search very exhausting to sort past. The experience really hindered the app’s quality and function for me. Another thing I found is the hosts’ tendencies to write external fees within the listings, without applying them to the calculated amounts in the system. They have been charging Airbnb guests outside of the app and I’m pretty sure that’s in violation of the company’s policies.

The absolute worst company I have ever dealt with! I booked a stay through air bnb and they canceled my reservation with no warning and deactivated my account and will not give me back my money. They are thiefs and have the worst customer service ever!! Your better off with a hotel!

They help scammers by not considering complaints about hidden payments from the landlord. After booking, you find out that the price was for one person, not for four people, and you still need to pay. If you refuse, they do not return the money and do not provide accommodation unless you pay an additional fee.
  • Fraudulent listings/company is a total scam

This app/platform lists many places to stay after you type in the dates, great huh?! Well, here’s the catch… you don’t find out that the place is actually available until after you book. Then the hosts tells you they never approved or are unavailable. Yet the app/platform keeps showing their listings as an option. Thus, when booking anything it’s a 50:50 gamble and even through they will refund you if a host cancels last minute, the hold stays on your card for 10 days. Advice to travelers: Message your host first to confirm before automatically booking anything. This company is deceptive and many listings are fraudulent.
  • Superhost more like Superjoke

The wife and I booked a stay for my 40th and the superhost just cancelled our reservation with no reason. So now we have to stay further away and spend considerably more money to try and keep our trip on plan. There also doesn’t seem to be steep enough penalties for their host to do this and their response was weak and without and resolve. I find it hard to use this service when there isn’t a guarantee and less issues that you get when booking a hotel.
