  • App broken after last update - signs out daily

Since the last update, the app signed me out, even though I am a pain subscriber every single day sometimes several times a day. I have deleted and reinstalled the app, and nothing has changed it. This was never a problem for the last five years of my using the app. Also, while we’re at it, my biggest complaint is that I’m a subscriber, and I still have a ton of ads pushed at me.
  • Too much pushing NZME Products

I subscribe to The Herald for news; not to know what Mike Hosking is doing on ZM. If I wanted that I’d listen to that station. Cross marketing your products tends to take you away from the centre of politics and to the right. I doubt if I will renew my subscription.
  • NZ Herald often first with foreign breaking news

I read the NZ Herald from the USA. They frequently break news stories before many of the big news organizations. For example, they had printed a story on the October 7 Hamas attack before the BBC, CNN, NY Times, and WSJ. And the content was spot on.

Please get rid of the annoying red banner that keeps popping up even when you close it Also in the app format, all comments don’t load
  • What a joke

It is laughable how the Herarld awards itself News App of the Year every year without fail in a New Zealand field of one entrant.
  • Terrible biased reporting

I read this as insight into what is brainwashing my fellow Kiwis. Opinion pieces thinly veiled as reporting. What a daily disappointment.
  • Writing letters to the editor or commenting on opinion pieces online

Overall the website is good. Easy to navigated but it does not allow online comment to opinion pieces which is frustrating. Also broaden the overseas news sources. Why only use material from the NYT or Washington Post? Both are left leaning and have had to issue major retractions and corrections on big stories. Add content from the Wall Street Journal for more balanced content. The coverage of the Govt’s response to Covid has been fawning and lacking independent analysis. By any objective measure keeping kiwis out and locking down Auckland for protracted periods is an economic and social disaster. Yet the newspaper refuses to really spell out these failings.
  • Read it now or never

Biggest problem with this app is when you click on one story to read, once you’re done all the other headlines have disappeared. So if you’re interested in two or more stories that have shown on your newsfeed. Too bad for you. Be a great app if they didn’t disappear like that.
  • Herald App

I find this App very difficult to negotiate I don’t like it at all I seem to have to go back to the front page to read every article. It’s a no from me
  • Constructive criticism

Over the years of reading news I have noticed more and more news written in a subjective rather than objective style. It is the responsibility of a news agency to tell us the news, not how to feel about the news. Also your click bait news headings are annoying at times, trying to emphasise the controversial/ dramatic in the title. Please let us your readers form our own opinions on events- so important in this world today where increasingly we need to question what we read online.
