I paid $3.99 for this app and I think the only usefulness is the Hebrew & Greek word references in the KJV+ version. It’s super complicated to navigate. I’ll stick to the app I was using before this one. Also, it’s $14.99 to add NKJV, yet the Calvinist ESV Bible is free. Go figure. (The default is KJV and KJV+ which is the Hebrew & Greek word reference version, so those versions do come with the $3.99 at least.)

I love this app! I have e-Sword on every device I own! Mac, iPad and iPhone! I have been using this software for years and I highly recommend it to everyone i know that are looking for help with Bible studies.

I wish this version instead of double clicking the reference, you could just press down on it, also it would be nice to be able to highlight more than one verse at a time by clicking on multiple verses…

Makes it easier to understand

First off. Love e-Sword. Have it on iPad and laptops. Been using it for years. I teach classes at our church how to use it. It has been a blessing to help others study Gods Word. My Request - connect notes with verses in a way that is much more like a physical experience. When I open my Bible, I can see the notes I have written. It would be amazing if there was a little quote bubble that could be clicked on to reveal notes made. Or even if it was connected to a personal commentary that was like a living document, always available for edit.

I know the pc version of e-Sword has way more free translations available than what are listed here, so if we are strictly speaking Bible features then MyBible (for Android) is by far and away the best for serious students of the Bible. This is close to the lesser iPhone version of MyBible and it also gives you the ability to open bblx files as books but not as bibles. MyBible has a lot of the same features as this app but more well implemented and for free, however, the part of e-Sword iOS which shines is the devotions tab along with the commentary and reference tabs. There’s a huge library of classic works which you can download for free. And this app doesn’t take up all that much space compared to other apps in this category. The ability to side load bblx files as books is ok, but I would like to import translations of the scriptures to e-Sword as Bibles so I can have a competent list of translations like what we see on pc. It was well worth the purchase for the commentary devotion and reference tabs and it wouldn’t feel right to give such a great software only 4 stars when people can just read the title of review for themselves. My suggestion is to implement crosswire module downloading because as is, the amount of translations are lacking and simply do not justify the price, but the other features do end up making up for it with an expansive library of other kinds of classic works.

Seems last update removed the sermons which you could listen too related to a Bible verse. Had a know this feature was being removed would have never installed the update.

The only app I’ve ever actually purchased but the most profound! I’m shocked it doesn’t have millions of 5-star reviews. I used to have to get the huge black Strong’s Concordance to study the words in The Scriptures-but NO MORE! One click on the word shows me exactly what it means. The most amazing tool I have ever used to bring His Words alive with meaning!
