I love this app don’t get me wrong, and I get that they add stuff to a paywall but they change this stuff without warning I have a huge pro army and I use this app but I don’t want to pay to see the weapons and powers of my orks
  • Says codex is supported

The update says that the new codex’s are supported but if you try to read them it says they are locked content. So the app becomes useless if your army gets a codex.

App is must have for playing the game. Battle forge or whatever it’s called is amazing, makes the game so much more accessible. Lack of ability to buy digital codexes is very annoying and locking multiple list build behind subscription that doesn’t give you rules is stupid. So close to greatness.

Imagine needing to pay for something like building an army roster, honestly when I see you under the guillotiné no one will feel bad
  • Disappointed

This app is owned by a corporation whose morals and loyalty are bought and sold freely without regard to the fans who made it a success in the first place. Even the CFO is jumping ship
  • Good for what it tries to do, but could be better.

This is a good app for looking at datasheets (that you have to buy) and creating armies. If you want an app for this purpose, then this is a great app with minimal problems. But if you don’t own any codexes, you have to hope that whatever army your making has free content available because the rest is locked behind codex paywalls. Even with the annoying paywalls, I still regularly use this app for 40K and enjoy it. But there are many features that would make this app much more useful. First, I don’t always play regular 40K (I normally play Killteam) but this app is still very useful for looking at wargear options and setting up killteams. However, better support for Killteam (Toggling between Killteam and 40K datasheets, options to hide units without the Killteam tag, options to make a Killteam at 100-200 points etc.) or maybe even a Killteam dedicated app would be very helpful. Another feature that will be useful whatever mode you are playing, is to be able to save units instead of having to make a full army. I keep having to delete and remake the same 1 army over and over again and it is really agitating. This would make it much easier to plan wargear for a newly bought kit or choose load outs for your next game. This alone would make this app go from 3 to 5 stars for me and it would be a very welcome change. The last feature is not likely to ever happen, but life/objective/vp counters would be amazing. Local play that would let you keep track of games and events digitally like in the magic the gathering app would make this app have a whole new purpose and make it 10x better. I hope gw reads this and if they do hopefully some of these features will make it in. For now it is an okay app that works for what it does but has an annoying paywall.
  • Double paywall is too much

I enjoy the app and the gui is much cleaner than competitors. Command tower was a great update in the right direction. Some stuff could be improved, such as export options (being able to import a list your friend sends you would be nice), but overall its a solid layout and user experience. Until you want to check if that rule your opponent just used is accurate, in which case the app becomes worthless and you need to go check the free alternatives anyways. I’m hoping they decide that WH+ users should get full access to the app, but if they don’t I’ll be canceling my subscription when it’s current period ends as I have to use the free apps more and more to supplement this anyways during a game. For reference the paywall for the full app will eventually be a 60$/year subscription + around 1500$ (21x60 for codices, 5x35 for supplements, and +60 for new faction codices) if they don't raise codex prices before the edition ends.

I am paying for the subscription and bought the codex’s but still the data will not update. So frustrating, please tell me what I need to do? How long am I going to pay for this and not have access to anything?
  • It’s actually not that bad

It could be streamlined more. For example, making it where adding a new unit to a squad also adds the equipment. But otherwise, as long as the rules remain free, it’s a great app
