Description

Replace your phone camera’s default processing with bespoke, curated color and texture rendering designed by cinematographer Steve Yedlin and used on the Knives Out films. Chromagraph starts from raw image data and builds the image its own way: not a filter laid over the usual look processing, but a different process from the start. (Chromagraph is a stills-only camera; it does not shoot video. Note that on some devices such as the iPhone 11, not all cameras support raw capture and will not be usable in Chromagraph) SHOOT FIRST, SEE THE LOOK AFTER As with a film camera, you frame through the viewfinder and see the finished look only after the image is processed. Take the picture, then open the gallery to see it with the Chromagraph look applied. ADJUST WITHOUT LOSING THE LOOK Intuitive yet powerful tools for color, tone, and texture give you real control while keeping every image true to the look that’s the core of the app. A GALLERY THAT KEEPS THE ORIGINALS Store full-quality raw files and view them in the app with the look applied live, along with any adjustments you make. Export smaller files to share with friends or save to your photo library, or turn on auto-export in Preferences to send every photo to your library right away as a JPEG or HEIC with the look applied. NOT A FILTER A filter sits on top of the processing your phone has already done. Chromagraph skips that processing and uses its own methods for the curated look preferred by director Rian Johnson and cinematographer Steve Yedlin.

App is unusable at the moment. Crashes on open on my 16 Pro.

Good results but buttons are misplaced and too small. I like this app as a default camera app. One feature request - a button to switch to the native camera app, in case I want to shoot video.

Some things to be improved but I know this is a new and evolving app. I’ve tried many camera apps and haven’t felt this way about any of them. My only request is a live preview of the color processing effect, even if not exact. I don’t expect grain and halation in a preview image, but seeing the tonality would be nice. (i assume this may not be possible, i know Dazz lacks this feature as well)

Enjoying this app and love the processing however it's missing the x2 camera option. Why? Edit: my device has the x2 camera it's shown on the native iPhone camera

Limited functionality and subpar UI. UI text is white and doesn’t auto-adapt to photo so you have to shrink or expand photo to see UI text. A number of times photos look better in the viewport vs what gets processed after leading to a semi-frustrating experience of hoping back and forth between camera apps. There seems to be an issue with capturing certain skin tones. There should also be a feature to have several different presets for outdoors, daytime, night, etc. instead you have to consistently change things on the fly whether it’s per photo or changing the default setting and hoping it’ll land for each shot at that time. Sometimes exposure, highlights and contrast are overblown and leave things looking off. Extra editing is required outside of app and at times leaves you wishing you just shot outside of it in the first place. However when a shot lands it just looks amazing. Overall wish it was a more consistent experience.

The app has potential, but I’m trying to take a display closed selfie. It says there is no Bayer raw pixel format. This is the only thing keeping me from making it my standard camera. But if it can’t do all things camera, then it’s no use to an average user. May be an easy fix but I can’t find it.

I see the difference however I feel like you can achieve the same look with a different app.
  • Great but still needs some work

Love the look of the stills coming out of here! The only thing color wise I don’t like is how the blues and rendered. They seem super vibrant and more digital looking than the rest of the color palette. Also, when exporting a photo I notice a super thin black border around every image. An issue since the 1.4 update is that if I try to export the actual size of the photo the app immediately crashes. But overall really great app, just needs a little more work to be amazing!

As a photographer who always takes pictures wi th her iPhone, I think it’s a great app. I just think that one aspect it could really improve on is in the way the photos can be exported. In the app, the date, time, location, and everything are good and visible. But I don’t like how none of these transfer when you export it to your photo gallery. I think all of that data should come with it, so that when I look at it in my camera roll, I can still know what date and time I took them, and the exact location on the map too. It would also be good if the file naming applied as well, rather than just adapting the iPhone IMG_XXXX file name.
