Installation went ok and can be controlled from my husband’s phone but I can’t add the device to mine.

APP is not as user friendly as you think. When I first got the app it was fine and easy to use. Then like all things they pushed an update that makes it more difficult to use. 1. If you want to remove a device from your household, you can’t just remove the 1 device. You have to unlink that who connected app account, remove the item and reconnect the app. 2. Can’t make calls to devices. Yes, I am aware of the broadcast ut there is no intercom feature (like drop in on Alexa) to where you can have an open conversation instead of sending broadcast messages over and over.
  • So confusing

You need someone from Apple to redo this app. I was forced to “upgrade” my nest thermostat to the new model that uses the google home app. It is seriously so clunky and confusing in comparison. I hate using it.
  • Lag and layout

The newly redesigned Home Screen is clunky and unappealing to navigate. There is no point to a favorites section if they are all at the top to select. Previous Home Screen layout was way better. A couple updates ago the live camera views from the Home Screen now have the delay added to them. I understand this was to try and help bandwidth or something but the load times are horrendous. 10-15 sometimes longer seconds for the camera feed to update. This seems like a feature that I should be able to toggle on and off.
  • Horrible update

Really? Swipe horizontally to change brightness, and change the page? This app went from my favorite app for smart home control, to pushing me fully into setting up Home Assistant with this last update. Thanks for the motivation to finally take the plunge into self hosting.
  • Doorbell camera never works

We use all google products at home. Our doorbell camera never works. we charge it, make sure it’s connected to the app and internet, we reset it multiple times, no luck. Google assistant doesn’t do the commands, doesn’t turn on or off the lights most of the time either. There’s no one getting back to us about the issue, nowhere to call for assistance or no help resources that address these problems. Very frustrating and I am planning on switching to other companies services since I can’t use it anyway.

I made the mistake of converting my Nest thermostats to Google Home a few years ago and lost a lot of functionality. I have two thermostats in my house, but had to create a second “home” to add the second thermostat. At least I could access both from the main screen, but with the latest release, I have to go through a menu and switch homes to get to the second thermostat.

The new app is not user friendly. Whenever you try to dim a light from the favorite devices screen, it thinks you are trying to swipe left and look at all devices. Loved the app before, the new update needs work!!

When I accidentally used the square control panel, I literally can’t change it back and I can’t even turn off the TV, FIX IT GOD DAMNIT.
