Works just like you want it to.

I have no idea how the custom playback speed is changed. I now have normal, 1.1 and 1.3. I have looked in all settings and can not find anything about speed. In the player I have done long presses and drags and nothing seems to work. Seems odd that they can’t seem to figure out basic speed plays of 1.25 or 1.75

Subscribed for the last several years, and the app has been great for the most part, but with the last renewal cycle a year ago that included a 50% price increase, which I went ahead and accepted, I cannot justify yet another subscription renewal for an app that I can basically do without. I won’t name the alternative app that I’m now using, so as not to impune Overcast, but for me, this is a subscription that’s no longer warranted.

This used to be a good, simple, trouble, free podcast application. The biggest downside was that I couldn’t manage my podcasts on my Mac, which would’ve been a lot easier than on the tiny screen of my phone. Although it’s not that hard to manage my podcasts on my phone. Now, however, it’s gotten buggy. Sometimes when I click on the pop-up menu for a podcast episode, the play next menu item doesn’t work. The ad to queue item works, but it adds the episodes to the end of the queue instead of the beginning. Usually, I’m adding several episodes at once, so then I have to move to the queue and drag them all to the top, one by one. It’s all very disappointing.

The app is now stock on a blank screen with a spinning wheel in the center. Restarting the phone doesn’t help, and I am not sure that I won’t lose my podcast lists etc. when I try removing/reinstalling. As a paid customer, this is a rather frustrating experience.

Just does what it says on the tin and doesn’t steal your data. A blessed smooth and simple app In this day and age, undoubtedly covering a huge amount of work. You could not pay me to go back to the purple podcatcher I was using before.

so much better than the mess Apple gives you. Even the ads are relevant and show me podcasts I am interested in.

Update: Came back to this recently, and the Dec 2025 had made it worse. The info button is worse, the slide functions are worse. Have been using this app for years and then they screw up how the playlists appear on the screen. No longer can you see them all on one screen, you have scroll right to see them all. Poor decision.

I’d pay to go back to the old version of the app.
