  • Extremely overpriced

    I used Roadtrippers dozens of times in the past decade, and it worked great for planning long distance road trips. It was a little bit nicer than google maps: not something worth paying for, but between two free services it was an obvious choice! They clearly had a similar business model to google as well: free to consumers, revenue stream from recommendations and promoted search results. I just went to plan a new trip and discovered that I couldn’t because I had too many saved trips already. That’s when I learned that they’ve apparently decided to ruin the app by crippling the free functionality and shoving ANOTHER subscription down our throats. Imagine if google required a subscription to save custom maps? Hah! Not only that, but paying $50 only allows 5 saved trips! I had over 10 already in my account, and now I have to delete tons of history in order to plan more trips. The fact that my Roadtrippers account is a running history of all my past trips, family camping adventures, the last trip I took with my father before he died, and more, was a huge plus. It’s actually a detail that I specifically recommended to people about this app. But that’s ruined now. I’m really disappointed in this apps decision to shoot itself in the foot. I’ll just be planning my next trip on google maps.

    Devenu impossible de programmer un itinéraire avec points d’interêt au fur et a mesure de l’avancement du trajet. Cette ap a été faite par des gens qui ne l’utilisent jamais, sauf dans leurs bureaux, pour se faire mousser. Le support client est comme l’ap aujourd’hui ….. médiocre

    Looks like my previous review was deleted? Not sure why. I used to love this app. Planned many road trips with it for years. It’s so easy to use and I really don’t have any complaints with it. It was truly my travel companion. Then they upped the cost and so I reluctantly paid it to use the features. Continue to plan more trips for another couple years and now all of my trips are inaccessible (EDIT/Update: I have access to my trips again. THANK YOU RoadTrippers!). They have upped the cost yet again to a “premium” level, which of course costs more. All companies are doing this now up (see Amazon Prime now charging you for movies where prime used to be enough). But I just wish that Roadtrippers wouldn’t do this bait and switch (get you locked into using their app, and then increasing the premium for all of the features that you are used to). They’ve lost a customer unfortunately. UPDATE: Sorry but I love this app so much and it’s so useful. I think I’m going to keep paying for it. I now have access to all my trips, so I think they listened to us!

  • Paid for something I can’t use

    I have been paying a $35 subscription for this app for at least 6 years now. I went to plan a trip and now it will not work unless I sign up for premium. My subscription expires in July. Will not be renewing this time. Understand things change but very disappointed the app will not work at least until my subscription expires.

  • Useful when needing, but will randomly charge you

    I used this app one time when trekking across the country almost three years ago and have tried numerous times to cancel the subscription with no success since then. How do I unsubscribe?? Not only do they send you no notice of the reissuing, it’s impossible to navigate how to stop further charges. I’ve looked on the app as well in my Apple ID and can’t locate either. I hate apps like this. It makes it impossible to stop payments from happening and makes me untrustworthy of the app itself. Please consider do a subscription reminder. It’s so unfair to your customers. Shoot us an email or something. Thimbs down to that. Just unfair.

  • Free version of Compendium was better

    Overall, I was trying to sign up for Campendium and they forced me to get Roadtrippers. This app is sorely out of date and lacking! When you click on numbers of RV parks, you call a random scan e survey number, which I am sure they are getting paid for on the back end. Overall, this app is not nearly as good as the old Campendium and I would not recommend paying for the full version. We have been on the road for 2 1/2 months now and I have tried to use this app and just keep getting frustrated with it updates on RV sites are years old and information has been incorrect many times.

    Changed their service with zero notification handcuffing use of the app and holding data hostage without upgrading to their premium service. This is a scam.

  • Deceptive and predatory membership levels/cost

    Using the app results in prompts to upgrade for almost any useful function and pricing is exorbitant. Better off using free google maps or free Mapquest to achieve the exact same results.

    I downloaded the app and it would not allow me to utilize any of the features without forcing me to “start a 7 day free trial.” I don’t need the premium mode!

  • What’s the point of paying for a subscription when you have to upgrade?

    I used to go on road trips all the time and use Roadtrippers with the basic paid subscription. I tried to map out my last trip and I had to upgrade. It was just a simple trip from Albuquerque to Houston and I couldn’t even use the app. Cancelled auto renew and I deleted the app. What a waste of my time and money.
