I was a loyal member of Roadtrippers and loved the app for over 10 years then a few months ago they locked my account so that I could not see any of my trips I had made and told me I had to pay more money to unlock them all. I feel this was very unprofessional way to squeeze more money out of a client if they wanted more, they should’ve just asked, and I would have paid more, from here on in the future, but it was unprofessional of them to just lock my account and not let me in it after paying them for 10 years of use.
The app works ok but support is horrible.

I’ve used this app in the past to plan road trips and found it effective, but tried to use it again just now, and I was asked to pay to have more than one trip saved or even to add more than one stop to a trip. This is absolutely ridiculous, this app has become atrocious and completely useless. Do not download or use.
Used to be a good app

Everything has limits and AI was added making it more expensive. Used to be a better experience but unsubscribed and now all my trips are locked - it was free so I subscribed for the better features originally but now everything is behind a paywall. Stick to Google Maps.

I have a Pro level membership, which theoretically allows me to have 5 trips saved. I spent several hours planning a trip across USA , only to find it locked now, with a demand that I upgrade to Premium membership to get back into it. According to customer service, my trip has special premium features in it, only available to premium subscribers. How did this happen? I’m not sure, but there is a pop up within the app that asks if you want to use Autopilot to add stops to the trip. I clicked on it out of curiosity, but never agreed to pay more and certainly was not informed that it would lock me out of my trip. I am very dissatisfied.

I had to sign up for a premium subscription trial to plan my trip, instead of planning way points, the app had me driving the entire trip in one stretch. Ridiculous, and when I went to the cancellation of the app. Surprise surprise, that part of the app wasn’t working.

I have loved this app for over 8 years. We have planned extensive cross country road trips each year for the past 8 years. Some of our favorite family experiences were found because of this app and its recommendations.
Back in April we used the app to plan an extensive trip to the east coast and upgraded to the expensive medium tier account and had no issues planning a three week trip filled with numerous stops. Fast forward a couple of months and I tried to begin planning a new trip. Now the majority of my trips are “locked” from throughout the years and I cannot make a new one unless I delete a trip or upgrade to the most expensive plan.
So, I deleted a number of locked trips and proceeded to try to plan a new trip. Still given the same upgrade or delete message. So I deleted most of my unlocked trips. Still given the same upgrade or delete message.
I have recommended this app to dozens of people over the years. I cannot any longer. I don’t know what new changes were made- but this app has become utter garbage.
Use ChatGPT instead to plan your trip.
