What an interesting setting of characters! Turns vampire memes on their head. I found the main characters to be fun with a full thought out plot. Looking forward to reading the next one….

Saw the title and was intrigued. Was not disappointed. Girl goes out with co-workers next thing she knows she’s lost 25 pounds and totally thirsty. Finds out she’s became a vamp and not just any oh vamp. she can’t drink blood. Talk about crazy . But instead of being sad it was like a total relief. She starts living and starts out by finding a killer. Loved the book and I also bought the one listed at the bottom about a witch and that was great too.

It was fun, very different, a little hard to follow at first but the title leads you into the story line enough to keep reading. It is a stand-alone story but also as a good introduction for the series considering you’ll want to know what’s next.

  • A healthier afterlife!

Austin native Mallory’s life actually improves after she’s turned into a vampire, except that her turning was an accident, she wasn’t expected to survive, and if she succumbs to blood lust, she’ll be executed. Good thing she can’t drink the stuff! But now this not-exactly-a-vampire has to figure out how to survive on carrot juice, solve her murder, and oh yeah, maybe help the archaic world of the supernatural embrace something more appropriate for Austin’s progressive vibe!

Wow!!! Loved this book and will love reading the series. Got to know Mallory and Alex in the story and this storyline is very different and interesting from the usual vampire lore and characters I read.
  • Delivers. I love Mallory(MC).

I loved this novel. I sat and read it all day — it actually broke a reading slump. It isn’t earth shattering, but that is the last thing I want from a cozy mystery. It was a fun ride and the paranormal characters are so *very* human. I can’t wait to read the sequels. As an added bonus (for me) there were no graphic sex scenes without it reading like a censor fest. It was true to the story and the characters.

Original idea for sure and a truly fun read. Again I knocked this out in less than 8 hours. Always something interesting around the next coffin ⚰️. Too funny. Janet E would be proud to have Cate as an accolade. Makes you wonder what’s making this baby vamp so special.
  • So many misspellings

Might be good if it weren’t for the typos. Ruins the plot for me.
