Description

He thought his detecting days were over—until murder surfaced.

When Steve Smiley's friend is found dead at the bottom of his exercise pool, police quickly rule it an accident. But something doesn't add up, and Smiley's instincts are screaming murder.

There are a lot of things a blind man can do, but solve a murder alone isn't one of them. He needs a partner… one who knows their way around a crime scene. Enter Heather McBlythe, a rookie homicide detective with more enthusiasm than experience. Smiley isn't convinced she has what it takes, but he has no choice—he has to trust her.

Armed with his years of experience as a homicide detective and his unlikely new partner at his side, Smiley meticulously pieces together the clues others overlooked. He knows he's on the right trail when a bullet whizzes past his ear. This investigation will either resurrect his life as a master crime solver or become his final case.

Exercise Is Murder is the captivating prequel to the beloved Smiley and McBlythe Mystery Series. Perfect for fans of classic whodunits in the tradition of Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot, this clean mystery delivers intelligent sleuthing, clever deduction, and satisfying twists without graphic content or language. Discover how this remarkable detective partnership began and lose yourself in the case that brought them together.

A fun read and great change from the usual storylines that are all the same and seem to follow the same fill and n the blanks format.

None of the same old stereotype characters and no worn out story lines. How refreshing. No hot sex between partners and no curse words. This book stands alone and provides proof the author has creativity. I loved his investigative partners. Recommend this book.

5 STARS ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Suspense, edgy, with a keen wit/sense of humor thrown in, made this mystery superb! There is a quality of experience(s) and/or knowledge of police, detective, private investigator, and lawyer. All of those held and kept me reading for long periods of time. The story/plot flows smoothly. Smiley and McBlythe are the key main characters. All characters are well developed as the story advances. This first book of the series is FREE! What a surprise! Bruce Hammack—YOU ARE AN EXCELLENT WRITER AND AUTHOR!!! I am a new fan. And, I will be gladly buying the rest of this series. Plus, all other stories you write! 🐰🐰🐰🐰🐰
