Great book! Worth the read!

Exhaustively researched account of the life and death of Chris MaCandless trek into the Alaskan bush. At times repetitive but always kept my interest. Kept thinking what a tragic legacy to leave behind as his epitaph. But Chris did it all his way, stubbornly refusing help that might have kept him alive.

Great stories and Krakauer explains them so well

Incredible, truly renders the spirit of young people who go for it with great risk. His climbing escapade in the middle also awesome. Chis was like us and we all could have died had we made one miss step. It could have been us.

The story of Chris McCandless is an intriguing one and the book explores the passions of a young man who seemed lost, had mental issues, and was searching for something more. The author seems to be somewhat obsessed with the story and short life of McCandless particularly with determining how he died. I found the book to be too grandiose and self-centered by the author at times; the story steers from McCandless to the author’s own tales which I found very distracting and in poor taste.

Not at all I hat I was expecting, but a captivating read that kept me thinking about it as I moved throughout my day.

The book is well written and the story of Chris M speaks to you on many levels. Feelings of being subdued to truly breaking free. In the end Chris M paid the ultimate price for the ultimate freedom. Great Read!

I am taken back upon reading this book, how similar the theory of McCandless death presented by Krakauer is to the theory presented by Dr. Steven Gundry in the Plant Paradox. Gundry’s theory is one that effects the dietary norms of our modern populous and the debilitating diseases that are caused by the consistent consumption of Lectins. Krakauer’s theory is one that effects a very minuend amount of human beings to have ever existed. I am tempted to disclose that demographic but will refrain upon reflection that my hubris to sound smart, in a book review, might effect the reading experience your about to embark upon.

This book is thrilling and transcends contemporary literature.
