Went into this book blind. I’m a casual reader but this one flew by quick. I will admit, I was a bit let down about what “they” are as I’m not typically a fan of those types of books. However, it made a lot of sense with the story, and ultimately ended in the most satisfying way. There were quite a bit of spine chilling scenes that are written for top notch disturbance. I felt like I was invested. Highly recommend if you like horror thrillers!

This book is incredible! This is a story that provides mystery, suspense, humor, horror, and heart (which is incredibly difficult to find all in one package). I have already recommended it to friends and family who I know will love it! I look forward to Mr. Buehlman's next novel!!!

Awesome first novel by Christopher Buehlman. Engaging, well paced, and multi-layered. A literary horror story set in the great depression with a unique writer's voice that slowly pulls you into the story until there is no way to escape. Give it a try.
