What a weird roller coaster. You are on the edge of your seat for the first couple of chapters and then all down hill from there. It’s like the writer ran out of ideas and just kept pulling them out of thin air. The ending was weird and made me regret investing my precious time reading this. Would’ve been exciting if the story took a different turn involving her Athena’s mother finding out getting involved…etc. and Juniper Song finally confessing. What a waste of time and money buying this.

I found the language in this book to be sometimes hard to understand. I also thought it, at times, was hard to follow because of the language. The storyline was OK, but not believable (I guess that’s why it is fiction). Didn’t like the “racism” themes throughout the book. I almost stopped reading it, but I did want to see where the ending led. Disappointing.
Unique storytelling

The premise of this story is enticing and I love the fact that the narrator is unlikeable. She has redeeming qualities but overall it is difficult to take her side which makes for an intriguing read.
So good!

Yellowface by R.F. Kuang is a powerful and thought-provoking novel that challenges readers to confront difficult questions about cultural appropriation and identity. Through a gripping narrative, Kuang pushes us to reflect on where we believe the line should be drawn, making this a compelling read that stayed with me long after I’d finished.
Great until it wasn’t…

Absolutely fell in love with this book and it’s interesting plot. I was sucked into it immediately until it felt completely dragged on. The ending was extremely predictable. Wouldn’t recommend.
No thank you

After reading the contrived and desperate Babel by the same author I don’t think I need to read this.
Fun!

I couldn’t stop reading! This book is fun, refreshing and… it’s so eloquently and vulnerable narrated that, it makes you be on the villain side (?).
I really enjoyed this book :).
