A couple of small problems. Technically, you cannot pour boiling hot water from a kettle in a tea shop where you mention in the very next paragraph that the electricity has been turned off. Grammar technology problem, then is an out a time or place, and than is for comparison. Sometimes these little things drive me crazy. The magical world here is a strong component in this engaging mystery, and it’s well built. The characters are also engaging and interesting. The small editing issues are holding the reader and the author back. If you can look past these things, this is the book for you.
