Excellent research about Cook presented as a compilation of many other stories about him. Loved reading about ‘Oh-My!’ Did not read like a history book but rather like a surreal adventure by him and the people close to him. I was quite taken aback how anyone could have survived his 3rd voyage. Thankfully the author only provided vague details of the conditions on the ships and constant fears and the deplorable conditions that they endured. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Hampton Sides has a unique talent for researching and telling history in such a way that sounds like a modern day thriller! Highly recommended!

So well written…a fabulous adventure story of discovery. It’s almost as if the reader is alongside Captain Cook aboard his majestic ship.

I’ve read several books about Capt Cook. This is by far away the best for many reasons. The story telling is extraordinary, the detail incredible, and the balance of explanation about Cook and the Indigenous people he encounters is highly commendable. A great read!

This history meets drama story of the most talented sailor ever is way better than history class. Easy to read and as interesting as Cook himself.
