I must say, this book is an eye opener. The detail created in the pages of this book expertly captures most all of what occurred between these two friends. It was almost like you were right with them the whole excursion. The determination to continue to the end is a testament to Kevin and Pete, as well as those who supported and help along the way. I can’t even begin to understand how this life changing exploration has changed the life of those who have taken a similar route through the Grand Canyon.

What an adventure! And I especially appreciated the history and future threats with regard to the Native Americans that originally owned and lived their lives there. Beautiful descriptions of the vistas, the canyon walls, the night skies.

For anyone who appreciates nature and the world we live in.

While interesting, I got lost in the middle with all the details about all the different strata of rock. Probably better for a true hiker than for someone like me who is interested in a more general description.

One of the best adventure books I have ever read.

Perhaps the best raw nature writing I’ve read since Edward Abbey.

What a walk indeed. Nothing else to say.

You’ll want to read this story because you’ll never experience such a grand hike through the grandest of places. I was enthralled by his colorful descriptions of the rock and its myriad of places which seemed to be worlds within worlds. It’s amazing such a place could exist within this country let alone the entire planet. I kept photocopying pages, describing places I need to visit and adventures to take within the Canyon. Pus his reverence to the Native people is extremely well placed. This book is a must read for any adventurer and person of history.

Part of my love for this book is because I read it while recovering from ankle surgery so it provided a lot of outside when I was inside. Still, incredible vivid read. Sort of the Grand Canyon version of what Bill Bryson did for the Appalachian Trail. I’ve never been to the Grand Canyon and understand it so much better now. When we go - and we will - this will be a tremendous resource. Style-wise, it’s just a very fun, very educational read.
