The most unusual bit of world building ever to gird the foundation of a mystery series, replete with intriguing and complex characters and occasional derring-doo. Not much had holding on your way to understanding this odd society, but the breadcrumbs and immersion gets you there quickly enough to enjoy the whole ride.

So much fun and so incredibly well done! I hope there’s another book soon because I adore these characters brought to life with such perfect narration.

Robert Bennett Jackson is a writer at the top of his craft, and this book is nothing short of spectacular. Unforgettable characters, a fascinating and unpredictable plot, and true mastery in his writing - his love of language is evident on every page. This book (and the one that preceded it) are a must read.

An engrossing and well crafted novel from a writer with several to his name. The prose is both clear and poetic, a tough balance to strike. A timely meditation on the stupidity of autocracy and the importance of civil servants who just want to make the world a better, more just and rational place.

If you liked The Tainted Cup, you will love A Drop of Corruption. This book was hard to put down. Truly an amazing work of art.
