Danger, deception, and murder descend upon a sleepy country town when a professional assassin (Anson Mount) accepts a new assignment from his enigmatic mentor and boss (Oscar® winner Anthony Hopkins). Given only where and when along with a cryptic clue, the methodical hit man must identify his mysterious mark from among several possible targets, including a local sheriff (David Morse). Starring Anson Mount, Abbie Cornish and newly crowned Best Actor, Anthony Hopkins, The Virtuoso is a throwback to the classic film noir genre. The film centers around hitman for hire Mount who is traumatized by a recent hit gone bad. The Virtuoso features an incredible supporting cast with Diora Baird, David Morse, Eddie Marsan and Richard Brake all in standout roles. The Virtuoso is a slow burn, so it won’t be right for everyone. But you if want to sit back, relax, and watch a compelling story unfold, then The Virtuoso is just the film for you.

With so many great screenplays out there, it baffles me how a movie like this could be made?! And with Anthony Hopkins in a key role. I thought I was watching a cartoon a few times. Dumb dialogue and confusing story line, if you can call it that. Really bad.

The movie started and ended very well. I was pleased the whole time watching it, but the only thing I wish was different was the amount of narrating. Although it did a good job explaining and helping better understanding the story line, it is the only thing I wish was different. Lastly, I am very glad she didn’t kill the dog! At least someone survived.

Exceptional cast. Continued to draw me in as the characters and plot developed. Loved the ending and think it calls for a sequel!

Moody lighting, stark scenery, broken characters and great direction come together really well in this compelling thriller with an outstanding ensemble cast.
