Description

Developed with director Richard Roxburgh, ROMULUS, MY FATHER has been adapted for the screen by poet and playwright, Nick Drake. Based on Raimond Gaita’s critically acclaimed memoir, it tells the story of Romulus, his beautiful wife, Christina, and their struggle in the face of great adversity to bring up their son, Raimond. It is, ultimately, a story of impossible love that celebrates the unbreakable bond between a father and a son.

this movie will touch your inner core and it'll make you feel what the young boy feels. Its was based of the authors memoir and Kodi Smit-McPhee really captures the actuality of the authors younger life. a true and one of a kind movie. a must see, hands down.

This movie was completely moving - one of the best I saw in 2008. Eric Bana and Franka Potente both gave amazing performances.

I've rented movies that I really wished I hadn't rented, and I've boughbt movies that I wish I had rented instead of buying them. This film is one that i would buy. This film, beautifully directed by Richard Roxburgh and acted by an amazing cast has so much heart to it that it makes you care about the characters. It's actually nice to see a film that isn't overblown.

I have been a loyal fan of Richard Roxburgh's work for a long, long time. I was very nervous about this film since he wasn't acting, but directing, but I was pleasantly surprised. Although the film and the memoirs were very depressing, the story is still beautiful and what redeems the film of its gloomy mood is the moving bond between father and son. Don't knock the movie because its depressing. Its magnificently directed and honestly one of Eric Bana's best films... I think this redeemed him from the disaster that was "The Hulk." Fantastic film. It would appear Mr. Roxburgh has a knack for both acting AND directing. Click YES if you agree!
  • Sad movie. I regret I did rent it. Waste of time.

Ended up skimming through the film. Definitely not a good one or family evening.

Honestly one of the most depressing stories without any redeeming value that I've seen in a long time.
