Why are trailers presented in hacked versions with the sides cut off in ITunes? Potential buyers have few ways of determining the quality of a transfer and these poor trailers don't help. I saw this movie in the theatre and the cinematography was often spectacular but you'd never know it based on this butchered VHS quality trailer. The correct aspect ratio (ask your parents what that means) is 2.35 - 1. Itunes should also specify the aspect ratio being sold and not the meaningless term "widescreen". This film is politically incorrect and that hurt it at the box office, but it is stylish, well acted, beatifully filmed and worth having in your film library assuming it is being presented as Ridley Scott made it and not hacked by some studio "marketing genius" who thinks audiences will be more "comfortable" if their TV screen is filled no matter what the director intended.

I have read in several reviews that the Director’s Cut is a far better rendition of this movie. Can we have that one in iTunes? Please?

This movie is an excellent artistic achievement from one of the greatest directors alive. I do not know why always this topics or global thematics ,causes so much indifference and low expectations for some Hollywood sectors. Maybe is because in fact, is what it is... just referring similar films: THE MISSION, APOCALYPTO, etc. Wonderful films underrated by some north american critics. Does it make sense?

So critics are mixed, history buffs and fans are ether hating or not minding this but as a movie that shows the price and cost of going far the social norm of the society like Post-Reconquesta Spain it is sort of a good example. Yeah it does take away stuff that makes the idea of the US giving a holiday for a man like Columbus questionable which yeah that is one of the not so great parts but it is a decent film on the beginnings of European colonialism in Latin America. The acting has great moments of underrated actors giving their best shots like Michael Wainscot as Adrien de Moxica a Spanish greedy noble man who wants to do stuff that Cortez, Pedro de Alvarado would later on would do in history. The weakest performance is to me Sigourney Weaver as Queen Isabella and trust me as good of an actress she is in stuff I have seen her she does not do a convincing job she is the Leading Lady of the “Golden Age” of Spain and the Inquisition. The best part of the whole film is the soundtrack by Vangelis, which is one of the most ethereal and beautiful soundtracks he ever done (Screw Chariots of Fire this is his best score ever next to his work on Alexander) it is worth the price alone to listen to the score he made even if some of it (in one scene Scott put in Fever Ride by Richard Horowitz a track of Moroccan Arabian music in a scene involving slaughter) is not made by him but from other sources. iTunes does not have the full soundtrack but it is worth the album price to get it. So as for the film I say rent it to give it a try and if you like it get it.
