  • Where’s the Science?

Discovery, we are fine with “hilarious” Shark Week hosts and that stuff. Please, PLEASE give us more actual science. I haven’t learned a thing watching Shark Week in years. I’m pretty sure this is the last season I’ll watch unless something changed. Makes me so sad.
  • What has happened to Shark Week?

Does any one remember when this was the most influential series that expanded public knowledge about sharks and not just about attacks by Great Whites or fake documentaries about giant sharks that don’t exist? This used to be one of the most anticipated events to look forward to every year for me and now I really don’t think I’m going to watch next year. The advertising for this years series should have told me all that I needed to know. I’d rather Discovery show Sharknado and treat it like it was fact at this point. The only reason I this two stars was because they actually had a couple shows worth watching at least.

Shark Week has taught us all a lot about these magnificent predators, most importantly that we need to make sure they survive !!! To those who only have bad things to say about everything they can post on, move on !!!! The folks who watch Shark Week are there to learn and to support the cause !!!! I am grateful for Discovery and all that they teach us, and our kids !!!! May the great Apex predators live on forever !!!!

Shame on Discovery for abandoning the value of teaching people anything. This whole series is now as ficticious as the movie Jaws. They are in it for profits and ratings, and as a result have abandoned all facts and science. Don't watch the show if you want to learn anything!

Here we are a year later. Despite the mockumentary Megalodon, Shark Week 2013 turned out to be a great series. This year there is a followup mockumentary with Megalodon, but they have also added an additional two Shark Week episodes making for a total of 13, which is the most in Shark Week history. Despite the sensationalism, and maybe because of it, I love Shark Week! Show me the Great Whites and the true shark attack stories. Save the sharks, of course, but show us why we're scared of them (and why they should be saved!). Sharks rule! Make sure you buy the HD Season Pass. Nothing says awesomeness like 65" of flat screen Shark Week! See you in the sea!
