    No matter how many remakes of King Kong there are, no film composer will ever beat Max Steiner's composition for the 1933 original. How can anyone surpass these perfect jungle themes, the building tension of the aeroplanes taking off, or the finale of Kong's life. Ultimate classic. My second-favorite film score (after The Lord of the Rings trilogy -- #1) of all time. As for the other tracks from other horror films, they're worth the buy as well, but Kong's the one I reccomend more. Though Bram Stoker's Dracula: The Storm -- is worth a definite buy as well. Overall, while not the original recordings, these are still magnificent. Buy.

    Every once in awhile an album comes along that fully captures the spirit of any given film. This one brings it together nicely and with surprising effect. I had/have seen Merian C. Cooper's 1933 King Kong enough to descern whether or not a soundtrack of any kind can deliver what the actual score in the film can acheive and this particular album does more than just play the music, it makes you see the movie in your mind. No doubt this is the real deal and would assuringly deserve Max Steiner's seal of approval. It has mine. Happy Listening...
