The only good song here, and the only one I love, is “Shape of You” It’s not only a banger, but it reminds me of the fixed convergent-divergent nozzle design used for airliner engines. Both the core and bypass of high-bypass turbofans make use of this design to accelerate and expand the flow as much as possible. It’s simple and efficient, and there are so many aspects of the song that remind me of these concepts. The C-D design makes an hourglass shape like the shape of a woman’s torso as sexualized in the song’s lyrics. The “push and pull” from the convergent section accelerating the flow which pulls on the nozzle for thrust. The flow expands in the divergent section to generate even more thrust. Everyday I discover something brand new about airplanes as Ed says.
