Jazz, soul, R&B with real artists and vocalists. This is a superb album for the price. The Stevie Wonder-penned Betcha Wouldn’t Hurt Me. I love Patti Austin’s vocals... on Something Special, he sounds very similar to MJ. These artists mingled quite a bit amongst each other’s albums during this period, penning songs and duetting with each other. Quincy Jones, Rod Temperton, Bill Wolfer, Michael Jackson, James Ingram, Patti Austin, The Brothers Johnson... there was a period in the late-70’s and early 80’s when these folks were producing tons of top-notch quality material. Thriller and Off The Wall were the Crown Jewels of these collaborations, but don’t sleep on the other material, it’s just as good.
  • A classic

Probably one of the best, if not the best album Quincy made.
