I remember being a little girl singing her songs not knowing anything about love. But I felt her feelings through her songs. Mary is truest one of my favorite singers. This album was beautiful. Mary J. Blige wasn't the 2d coming of Chaka Khan, just like like Chaka Khan wasn't the 2d coming of anyone else. Both are supernovas of the soul music continuum, and Mary is almost into her 3rd decade of a very strong and unerring career. Let's also disabuse the Apple critic of the notion of 411 being an uneven debut. From start to finish, It is arguably the best R&B album of all time. Added to that, it was also the first and best fusion of R&B and Hip-Hop to date, nearly 30 years later, a formula that artists have been emulating ever since (TLC, Keyshia Cole, Beyonce, Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, Beyonce, Drake, Lizzo, the list goes on) As for Share my World, it was a fantastic release, one of Queen Mary's finest efforts, a bit more melodic than My Life, more organic than 411, while perhaps lacking the sizzle of the former and the depth of the latter, though admittedly, its hard to go deeper than My Life. The warmth of Share My World however, has staying power. A good example is the title track or "Everything". Mary's gift is nourishing your soul while baring hers, a trick that not many can pull off because it's not a trick at all. Queen Mary has enough heart for everyone.
