I was scrolling through and heard this version of Down At The Twist and Shout intending to buy just that song. Then I started listening to a few other favorites and remembered how much I LOVED Mary Chaplin Carpenter, and dammit, I fell in love all over again and had to buy the whole album, lol! No regrets, I still love this beautiful woman and her beautiful voice. Down At The Twist and Shout is my favorite, and if you can watch her performance of that song on YouTube (there are a couple) and not just want to get up and dance yourself, ya must be dead!

I grew up with these songs, as my mother was a big fan; therefore, I became a big fan, too. She even took me to see MCC play live in concert, too, and that was amazing. This album brings back so many good memories!

Mary Chapin has a great mix of subtlety and zest in her music. Her rendition of "Party Doll" is my personal favorite, the bittersweetness of the song matches her voice perfectly. A good album is one with music you can dance to, sing to, sleep to, laugh to, and cry to. "Party Doll and Other Favorites" is certainly one of these albums; a truly awesome variation of music. Take a listen, you will not be let down.
