  • A bit of everything

This is my favorite cure album because it has a little of all their styles. It has their happy, poppy songs to their sadder songs like “one more time,” and “A Thousand Hours.” It also has some pretty good blood pumping songs like “hot hot hot” and “shiver and shake.” As well as “The Top,” alternative and foreign sounding instrumentals in the back of some songs. Oh yeah, and “Like Cockatoos,” I like in particular along with some others.
  • Deepest cure album created

This has got to be the most creative & varied album from the group. It has everything, highs, lows, light, deep, intense, it's really the best. Plus it is totally loaded with lots of excellent tunes. This is the last album that they made that had pure dark tunes - without the exacerbated moaning that follows with future albums. I'm not complaining, it's just part of their healthier growth. If you want light & poppy, thats always been a part of them and exists here too. I can't comment on the extras that weren't on the original album, past "Fight". If you are new to The Cure, be forewarned, this is heavy & addicting stuff if you get into it...

Having just turned to a pop sound (starting with head on the door) this sounds more like a bit of goth cure(Torture, The Kiss being best examples) thrown in with heavy 60's/70's pop (biggest example is Just Like Heaven), making one of the best albums the cure has put out (screw disintergration :P), and this album probably has the honor of being their longest (this version has 19 songs but the original had 18, hey you! was left out because of lack of space. Though the only problem this album is that some of the songs sound like b-sides and they put a bit too much emphesis on pop on about 2/3 of the album (weather or not thats a good thing is up to you). The Deluxe version has some neat live stuff (why can't I be you is the best of the live imo) however is not very nessecary, to me unless you are a big cure fan, if you have the money check this version out if not buy the other, but if you can only own one album, to me screw disintergration (great album, WAY too moody) get this.
  • Take me back...

Take me back to freshman year at UCSB 1989 (although it was originally released in 1987 and I first heard the original release in the 12th grade)!!! These songs reminded me of how dull and drab high school was. This album helped get hooked on Cure and Robert Smith's acerbic and pensive songwriting. It's releases such as these that should have long solidified this band's place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame; although, I kind of admire what the Sex Pistols did this past year by snubbing the elitism of this annual event. With the bonus tracks, you will figure out why the are indeed "Hall of Famers" on anyone's list.

This Album created, and captured the moment when it was released. The Cure singing these meloncoly tunes of love and loss, and sometimes lost love over the side of a cliff on a warm sunny morning. If you know this Album, and are a fan, you already own this release. To newcomers, No Question. Purchase this right away. The B-Side/Bonus tracks are a blessing from Heaven. Give yourself an oral experience that will change your life, or at least your perspective on so-called life.
  • If you don't want the demos, wait a bit for the single disc version!

Again, ignore the gripes about the missing b-sides and remixes. The former can be found on the "Join the Dots" boxset, the latter on the "Mixed Up" lp.
