Good album with great production. I get they’re not the same Deftones that they were but they can still make good music. This is proof :)

I know the Deftones are hot right now, I’m writing this as a huge fan of the band for the past 25 years. They are at their very best when Chino & Stef are BOTH 100% into the writing process. When this happens, the results are magical and you get albums like: White Pony (2000), Diamond Eyes (2010), & Ohms (2020). If you’re a newer fan and want a good representation of the band as a whole, would highly reccomend listening to those 3 albums in that order. When its mostly only Chino writing, you get their worst album by far (in my opinion), Gore. Also, during the bands “dark days”, they released thier 2 other weak albums: Saturday Night Wrist & Self Titled. Would skip these 3 all together. If you like the band for thier heaviness, Around The Fur, thier second album, is for you. It’s a banger and is my personal favorite. It’s a Stef record, no Chino playing guitar, very little Frank, just a straight up metal album, that I love every second of. Adrenaline, thier first album, is similar, just a lot more raw and not as polished, another must listen if you like thier heavy side. Private Music is decent, not great. Once I found out Stef was dealing with diabetes and wasn’t involved much in the song writing, made a lot more sense why its not that good. Don’t get me wrong, it’s A LOT better then Gore, but doesn’t come close to Diamond Eyes or Ohms. Would place it 7th in thier discography. Disagree with me? Let’s see your order of preference of albums!! Mine: 1 Around The Fur 2 White Pony 3 Adrenaline 4 Diamond Eyes 5 Ohms 6 Koi No Yokan 7 Private Music 8 Self Titled 9 Saturday Night Wrist 10 Gore

Whole album is pretty much solid start to finish but tracks 3,5,1,11 are really some of my favorites.

I’ve been wearing this album out. If it was a cassette, it would have broken in the tape deck by now. An incredible album that will stand the test of time. The Deftones are such an amazing band that keep pumping out great album after great album. Well played, Deftones.

Excellent mix throughout the whole album. Production (like always) blows me away. Nailed it guys. private music “clicked” for me. Haven’t had that happen to me in YEARS. Thank you for all the metal that has kept me sane over the years.
