This long, and very peaceful and flowing set of musical pieces were created by Vangelis Papathanassiou in The International Year of The Ocean , in the mid 1990’s Vangelis has a typical electronic and edgy sound to his work. In almost orchestral style here however, Oceanic paints a different type of music by the man known for Chariots of Fire and Blade Runner. From the introduction of ‘Bon Voyage’ you can imagine him sitting in front of his many synthesizer keyboards, and like all Vangelis songs, improvising in real time, a voyage on the oceans of the Earth taking you on a breathtaking journey.

I like most of the Vangelis tracks, especially the slower pieces from Oceanic. It's just incredible the way his music is popular, evocative and technically brilliant, performances and production. This guy made awesome world music and created wonderful electronica long before many electronica and world music artists were even born, and without modern computers.

This is my favorite Vangelis album. I love it's theme. It has a full, encompassing sound that just makes me drift away. Vangelis' works from the 90s, to me, have a feel to them that set them apart from his earlier and later works.

I'm not the world's biggest Vangelis fan, but this is a nice, relaxing album. The songs flow together very well, and I am reminded of the ocean - waves moving, swimming through it. It's lush in a way 2010 Electonica is not.
