Acoustic (iTunes Exclusive) - EP

Love it!

TL;DR - BUY "IN THE MIDDLE" AND "RENAISSANCE". Okay. Now I'll explain a bit more. xD This review is specifically for MK fans who are considering purchasing this little album, but aren't sure if it's worth it - if they already own the original songs, I mean. Lyrically and tonally, the songs aren't much different. The only difference you may notice right away is that, obviously, they're a bit more stripped down. I'd recommend skipping past the version of Nothing Left to Lose, and Girl America. However, I HIGHLY recommend Renaissance. It feels more bleak, and there's this moment where what sounds like a chime begins to peal out in low, meaningful notes .. it really adds a sobering dimension to one of our favorite songs. The version of In the Middle is also worth picking up. He seems (if possible?) even more plaintive. The emptiness of this version, compared to the drums in the other is rather striking, and the guitar plucks feel even more textured and contemplative. So there you go. My ranty-rant.

just discovered his music and absolutely love it! $3 is a bargain in truth.

This is an excellent acoustic album. I don't usually write reviews but I've got to give it up for a fellow Nashvillian. This is legit.

Mat Kearney continues to impress with strong thoughtful vocals backed by equally impressive music.The more you listen the better it gets.

Mat Kearney is the best up and coming singer of our generation. His lyrics are true and heart felt. I would recomend him to anyone. He truly is my favortie artist. He sings about his feelings. His lyrics are true. You can tell that he has gone trough everything he sings about. Mat your awesome dude. I will be at your concert. Trust me this guy is awesome.

Mat Kearney has the power to allow his music to translate into your life. His words and phrasings are precise and specific but still loose enough for anyone in any situation to make it feel their own. His albums are a soundtrack to your life filled with conflict and confusion, but it ultimately reaches its climax always in the sweetest resolution. Finding that quality in albums now are so rare and that's why this guy is such a gem in an industry that's turned into the biggest beach of blandest sand. He provides for his listeners a life soundtrack where you are the main character. I love it. I really really love it.

I go to University of Oregon and I was listening to a presentation today in my Music class and someone brought up Mat Kearney, from Eugene, OR and I absolutely love Mat Kearney and I was just surprised that he came from the college town! So cool! Lots of great musicians play here and Mat Kearney is just a great example of that! Congrats man!
