Olga Kern shed a new and correct light into the interpretation on this Schubert Impromptu in F minor (D935) opus 142. Most unfortuntely, almost ALL pianists paid no respect to this wonderfully composed humourous piece of music. Everyone simply play from the score without trying to understand what Schubert wants to say. It is such a shame because these so called artists are simply money mongers. The list includes Arthur Rubinstein, the most undeservely admired commercial "star", then comes Alfred Brendel, Murray Pershia, and the list goes on. I dare to comment on these guys because I paid a fortune to attend their concerts and buy their CDs. What a waste of money. Stupid adulation for a "star". I might as well buy a Madona or Micheal Jackson album. They at least care about what they sang. I have 10 versions of this Impromtu from all "famous" artists and each is a disappointment. The only exception is Mitsuko Uchida. Now we have Olga Kern, and we finally have the correct interpretation. The piece is about a couple, two lovers, softly bickering, arguing. The base Octaves represent the male voice, and lady replies on the higher Octaves. Schubert is telling a story, and some stupid jerk say this is part of a Schubert Sonata. Whoever said that, don't even know or understand the meaning of the word IMPROMPTU. Go check on the Wester's before you put your foot in your mouth. A most misunderstood music composition in history !!!! Corrected by the wonderful Olga Kern. We are finally saved from the senile and the dead. To end, I want to say the Arthur Rubinstein was such a fake. I was at two of his concerts, and both times I wanted my money back. Such a cheat !!!
