One of the greatest albums I own. Some country; some jazz but all genius. It's too bad that after this album (& the hard-to-find followup "Guitar Monsters") Chester & Lester had little good to say about each other. Sometimes two huge talents (with equally-large egos, even if they're both classy gentlemen) tend to collide. A shame, but the music they made together remains happy and fun. A must for both jazz and country guitar fans.

These men don't play the guitar...they make love to it. They caress the fretboard like a lover's body. Forget thrash metal and power chords...this is guitar magic.

An excellent album. These two great legends leave us a legacy of great guitar playing. This album is no exception. It is as smooth and sweet as can be. The songs are classic, played with the expertise that "Chet Atkin & Les Paul" possess. Love this album. It is just one of the many recordings in both of these wonderful musicians' libraries! Enjoy!

Although most of the songs were great, the two best songs, they talked too much, and just generally fooled around before getting down to business. These two song were also repeated but with no noticeable change. I deleted both songs from my song list. What a shame.

I am writing this on the day of Les Paul's passing. I came here to see what ITMS had and was glad to discover that there was "new" music (bonus cuts) to hear by this duo after 32 years. I was fortunate to see him live 5 years ago. This is a great jam session that was released and won a Grammy- their appearance on the Grammy broadcast was my first exposure to both these greats. Buy it. ITMS, how about getting their second album Guitar Monsters on here?
  • An excellent laid back performance by two greats

A very good, laid back recording, an easy listening, Sunday morning kind of album. I have respect for these two artists but I'm not a huge fan of Chet or Les but in this case the sum of them both is greater than each on their own. One reviewer was offended by some of dialogue between the two artists. I think it gives character and interest to what could have been, with editing and more orchestration a generic recording of standards.

This is one of the few albums, from beginnning to end, that is truly a joy to listen to. It makes me realize why I like the guitar so much. The casual, effortless, interplay between the two is nothing less than Mind Blowing! A must have for anyone and everyone.

Chet Atkins and Les Paul, two of the legendary names of electric guitar development as well as its music. Outstanding musicianship; recognizable, cross-genre style, with notes that both flow and pop like bubbles from a party gun. It is all on display here; makes you want ot run out to that Manhattan club where Lester still pays two sets every Monday night. Favorites tunes on this album tell their own stories: Caravan, instantly evoking circus action; It's Been a Long, Long Time itself evoking a sweetly imagined era when America and its allies were strong and proud and had citizens who sacrified for the rest of us. Avalon's technical sprightliness just dazzing to the ear and brain. These are a few of my all-time favorite tunes, just the way they should be remembered, and indeed, just how they should be passed down through history. This stands out with Stephane Grappeli, Django Reinhardt, with Nat King Cole's voice---all examples of perfection for the ages. This is an instant classic, and as one who has followed and played at music for over 50 years, I know there isn't a better pair of guitar kings on any album out there. A treat of a gift!

I thought this is one of the best easy listening albums ever. Great guitar work by Chet Atkins and Les Paul on this one. I've had the 8 track tape of this since '76 and still don't get tired of listening to this album. iTunes really brought it here digitally and it never sounded so good. I found this CD 8 years ago as an import, but paid big for it. Wish I knew then it would be here on iTunes..
