You can definitely tell this was her debut. There were certain songs that just felt picked by a record company to make a good album (although I’m sure Bjork isn’t like that and would let a record company just pick songs for her). Or some tracks felt like fillers, and I just felt that Bjork would be doing way better things in the future. Hardly any good songs on here. This album is an exploration of what I think Bjork would become in a certain scarceness, being that a lot of the themes of her future albums are hardly on here. The only thing I could compare it to in certain ways would be Post, but that’s it. Homogenic she completely threw all this out the window, and then it was Vespertine and forward, and the personally like that direction, just as the direction she took on Post. I would honestly, if recommended from my opinion, just tell a beginner for listening to Bjork to just listen to a few songs on here, such as Human Behavior, Aeroplane, Big Time Sensuality, Come To Me, Violently Happy, and The Anchor Song (not my favorite song, but I think it offers a unique sound from Bjork she didn’t really use too much post second album), then just skip to Post, which I think is a much better album. There are better things ahead in her career, and I don’t think this album is absolutely a pinpoint in her career or for a listener, save for a few songs that really pushed her forward. This album just doesn’t really feel like an entire cohesive listen, it just feels like a debut where the artist is still exploring his or herself. The true highs and lows of story didn’t really happen on here like the rest of her albums. It seemed like songs were just compiled to get her out there. An identity wasn’t fully found, or set in place yet. Overall, a few good songs come out of it, but not as a whole. 1 star

One of the best albums I’ve ever heard. I’m transported back to my 16-year-old life when I hear this album. “Come to me” is especially good and causes me to reminisce. Bjork is a truly unique talent.

Björk is so talented. She is super influential to my life. Björk, if you are reading this, I don't know if you remember me, but I am your second cousin, Julian Glisson. My mom, Roberta, is Matthew Barney's cousin. I met you a couple times when I was little in New York. You are so great. Whenever I play a show, I think of you. Tell Aunt Marsha I said hi :)

I think this is the best Bjork album since Stick Around For Joy with the Sugarcubes, which I love, too. All this music is very nostalgic to me since I was, like, 22 when this came out.

Listen to it. Not like you do other albums. But really listen. Listen at night. Listen at night while you have headphones on. It will be your favorite. You'll over-play it. You'll regret not owning it.
